JW Steakhouse Restaurant — Restaurant in Cairo

We had a wonderful dining experience at JW’s last night. We are actually staying at the hotel and were pondering where to go when we thought let’s try what’s downstairs. The atmosphere is wonderful as the restaurant and hotel is the former palace of the ruler of Egypt. The dining room is opulent and historic comfortable and elegant. You have a choice French cuisine, Italian cuisine or steaks which are American style cuts. My wife and mother-in-law choose French and I had steak which was wonderfully cooked. The soups were delicious, and the service was spot on as they have multiple servers and support personnel to attend to every need. Our servers were Abd El Mohse and Haitham both were fabulous and informative about the food and the history of the Hotel and Palace. We will go back and dine tomorrow as we have a dinner...

We had a wonderful lunch in this restaurant. We had a green salad, onion soup, grilled salmon, and New York stripe steak, and side orders of creamy spinach and French fries. Everything was delicious. The best item was the onion soup. The only thing that could be better was the steak. While it was tender, juicy and tasty, it was overcooked. Overall, the food was great, way beyond our expectation.

The service was outstanding. Our waiter was polite, professional and honest (in making recommendations). We understand the 12% service charge included in the bill was paid to the hotel. Therefore, we gave extra gratuities separately to our waiter.

The atmosphere of this restaurant was very good - quiet and elegant.

My husband got food poisoning here, we originally sent back the chicken because it was raw and undercooked. They still had us pay for it and gave us some fruit to say sorry. Also half the menu was unavailable - it’s a steakhouse and 6 of the 8 steaks weren’t available and seafood too.

That night he got really ill (only ate here that day) and wouldn’t stop vomiting, I called up to let them know and asked for a refund for our meal the next day. They said they’d ask the manager, over 4 days we chased up and both times they said “we’ll ask the manager,” they never did. No refund given and wasted days in hotel because of really bad food.
