We booked for the restaurant early and told them that we want the table beside the Nile river for 5 people they said that it was Ok. We arrived to the restaurant 10 minutes early and we were surprised that the table had only four chairs we told them that we wanted another table they refused so...BTW there was a couple of tables empty, so they gave us an extra chair but it was not comfortable at all because it was next to a palm tree. We have ordered a soup and a couple of appetizers that arrived in an expected time but the main dish took approx an hour to arrive when the food arrived it was not tasty at all unlike the soup, after we paid the bill 4100 Egyptians pounds, Ms Wafa came to ask us about our stay and we told her our complaints she went for a while and came back with free desert we thanked her and asked for water she said that she will bring it after a few minutes she said that we already paid the check and asked us if we want a new bill for the water,We were shocked after all of this and she wants us to pay for the water. Then we told her that we don’t want anything from them and left then a very kind waiter named Abdulmenim came with two bottles of water we thanked him and he was the one that served us he is the best waiter. Overall the service was slow and bad but Abdulmenim made his best to please us, the food is horrible but only the...
Read moreWhilst the view cannot be spoken of unfavourably, the restaurant went a bit overboard with ambience. It became quite dark and we could no longer see our food. We asked staff for some candles which were supplied - these however kept turning off and the inattentive staff had to be asked multiple times to relight them.
The food was a bit disappointing. Whilst the cheese spring rolls were delightful the "salads" were hardly salads at all. Just cut up beetroot or peppers with hardly any flavour.
The mains were utterly disappointing. We ordered couscous and a few tagines. The tagines despite their inflated price were awfully small, and were not morrocan inspired at all - just poorly cooked. For example the prawn tagine probably only had 4 small prawns.
Ultimately my utter shock came when the bill arrived. In total the food cost about 4000 egyptian pounds. Whilst this in itself is ridiculous I was aware of what i would be paying, and even factored in a possible service fee and tax. I was clearly scammed as the service fee and taxes amounted to 3500 egyptian pounds! Thats 87.5% of the meal cost well above the usual 10 - 20%!
For such poor quality food, inattentive service and exorbitant costs i will certainly not be returning. There are plenty of better restaurants that are far...
Read moreLocation is great, food and service not so much. We were given a table in the second row, even if the first row directly at the river was almost empty. It doesn't count that there were only big tables. A local couple, who arrived after us, was placed on a smaller table in the first row. Waiters gathered rather in groups talking to each other than being attentive: not refilling empty glasses nor checking if we were finished dining or if the bottle was empty. Had to pour the wine ourselves, in a restaurant of this category a no-go. Overall disappointing dining experience even if the ambiance is beautiful on river Nile. Not to mention digestive issues shartly after...
