Companies involved.
THE HOTEL : For allowing such business on their premises for going on for a few years based on previous reviews. RIMO TOURS : For orchestrating the scam. OLD PAPYRUS MUSEUM Ayman Kamel : For claiming to be official Government office. GALLOPERS CLUB TOURS & SAFARIS : Charging so much and not officially handing a receipt
GO READ 1STAR REVIEWS ON THESE PLACES.
I don't usually write bad reviews but it was crazy what happened to me and after doing so research on these different companies involved, I was shocked to see it has been going on for years and no change.
I informed the hotel but I don't know if they are in on it too. because other reviews also mentioned informing the hotel about this.
I knew about scams in egypt so we decided to book a hotel with a good reputation. As it was a sudden plan the big franchises were expensive and most were fully booked.
Hotel is a good place but the problem was with the tour counter in the hotel, we booked a tour on 13th May 2025 for 2 and were charged $75 for the taxi service from the hotel to the pyramid of Giza, 2 tickets of the pyramids, a tour guide of the pyramids and back. But later realized it was just the ride to the pyramid and back. Uber both ways is less than $15.
But we wanted everything to be taken care of so we paid the $75 they were kind and we even requested for a SUV and they gave us one, driver was very professional and they warned us about scammers, little did we know they are part of it.
when we started the driver informed us there are many scammers and shops will try to scam you so he can take us to the "official government shops" we were grateful and we got to our first stop and we started to understand what's going on. we stopped at "OLD PAPYRUS MUSEUM Ayman Kamel" They welcomed us and said its a official government shop with no fee and gave us welcome lemon juice. The tour was going well and we spent almost an hour here. as the tour came to the end they were forcing us to buy the papyrus and said don't worry about price etc. we insisted we dint want and we were about to tip them but they were pitching us products we don't have any interest in buying. there was good products but due to their arrogance and end goal being money we dint want to and we realized this aint no official store.
then driver took us to a shady road and told us to enter "the official Government office" in a old building with the shutters down, which I now found out is "GALLOPERS CLUB TOURS & SAFARIS" a man opened and closed it half way and told us about the tours with a horse, 30 min, 45 mins, 1hr. we said 1hr and he said $75 bucks per person. My dad dint want the hustle so we said okay. we asked for a receipt they said later.
we sat on the horse and the guide which you can see in the photo is the same one for a couple of years back posted by someone else on Rimo tours page. The guide explained to us that don't talk to anyone there are scammers. we walked in and were making our way to the horses that are used inside the pyramid about 100m, there were plenty of police and many undercover. As we almost reached the horse a police officer called us. He asked us how much we paid and we said 150$ he asked a few times to clarify and the guide kept confusing him because he dint know English, he let us go and when we took a few steps he shouted and called us back, another officer asked us how much and we said $150
he took us to a supervisor and told the guide to call his boss, the officer started to yell on the phone and the boss came running with our money and returned it, the officer then told us it is $30 for the ticket and horse ride is 500EGP which is $10.
at the end he took us next to where his mates took our $150 and started walking in, I saw the sign and it was "BEDOUIN PALACE OILS & PERFUMES" he said come in get fresh wash hands and leave. I said hell no and jumped in the car and left.
the hotel is good but they are be accountable for this because we trusted this highly rated 5 star hotel and they put those guys in...
Read moreThis is one of the worst hotels I have ever been in! I will start with the latest thing happened with us during our stay because it is the weirdest and most unprofessional! On the day of the check out I got a call from one of the customer service staff her name is SEHAM to ask if everything is okay and I said yeah! Then we went down to the reception to check out she asked my husband to hand her his phone to see something in Booking application, he gave her the phone and she rated our stay for us!!! On our behalf without even asking for our permission, while she’s holding the phone I asked her what are you doing in the application and she said nothing mam! And then she opened the whatsapp so that we send her a message and save her number, I took the phone from her and opened Booking application to see what she was doing and it gave me a message that ‘thank you for sharing your review’!! That was very shocking and disappointing for us, I told her did you submit a review on our behalf without even telling us what you are doing and when I asked you, you said you were doing nothing and lied about submitting a review that we didn’t allow you to do! She said I asked you over the phone how was your stay and you said okay!!! She is so unprofessional and unethical. That explains all the top rating in Booking application since the hotel standard is less than average by all means and the good rating is because the reception staff filling it themselves on behalf of the guest without even letting them know!
It took them around 30 minutes to check us in in our room! They offered a complementary drink though, however I wanted to be checked in faster as I have a baby who needed to be fed and put to sleep after a long journey.
We arrived the hotel at 6:30 pm, until 9 pm we didn’t have internet access although we requested for it multiple times and then they sent the IT to our room who gave us a passcode and password for the internet which didn’t work either so if you’re depending on the hotel internet for your work, Don’t!
Linens which supposed to be white, are almost gray from dirt with yellow and dark spots! Photos attached
Once I entered the room, the linens had hair! And the toilet was dirty I immediately requested the house keeping who came and changed the sheets with still stained sheets! But the house keepers were helpful
Room is relatively small although we were told that we’re upgraded to the premium room! Not sure how the regular room would look like
Zero view, the room has old dirty buildings’ roofs view and it is giving negative energy whenever you look from the window
Our booking included breakfast, the food was average but the restaurant is very smelly because of the burned oil coming from the egg station
We ordered breakfast to our room at the last day of our stay because I had a meeting and didn’t have time to go to the restaurant. We ordered breakfast for two but they sent cutlries for one person only and had to call them and request for another fork! Also, they force guests to pay 25 EGP to deliver the breakfast to their rooms and they force you to pay them on spot and not added to the room account, the same happened when we ordered dinner on our first night over there
Also, during the check out we had balance that should be paid for us but they didn’t pay it and they didn’t even mention it
Sandy at the reception was...

I feel compelled to leave this review due to the hotel’s sheer incompetence, lack of care, dishonesty, and absence of integrity.
We booked this hotel from the UK, relying on well-known booking platforms that still, to this day, showcase impeccable images of the hotel, rooms, and facilities. However, when we arrived at 1 AM with two toddlers, the reality that greeted us was nothing short of shocking.
It’s understandable that things can go wrong at a hotel, but here, almost everything did. The entrance, lobby, lifts, restaurants, hallways, and rooms all reeked of cigarettes. Despite “No Smoking” signs, cigarette sandpits overflowing with butts were placed right outside the lifts.
The lifts, common toilets, and hallways appeared as though they hadn’t been cleaned in months—covered in dirt, hair, and trash. The carpets, wooden fixtures, and furniture were aged and worn. Walls had severe water damage, with large sections of paint and plaster peeling off—none of which was reflected in the images on booking websites.
The room itself was awful—old, dusty, and neglected. The empty fridge was covered in black mold, clearly uncleaned for months.
The bathroom was in a terrible state, with missing sealant and mold everywhere. With our child suffering from asthma, this was simply unacceptable. The shower was rusted, and even before we used the toilet, puddles of water had already accumulated on the floor. To make matters worse, the bathroom door stopper was missing, leaving behind a protruding 1 cm screw—a clear health and safety hazard.
For a family of four (two adults and two children), we were provided with two single beds. When we raised this issue with the hotel manager, she claimed they were “double beds for children.” We requested extra beds, but even after four hours, none were provided.
The hotel’s WiFi never worked.
When we reported these issues to reception, they told us to “call 0 for help.” However, calling resulted in being placed on hold indefinitely. When we returned to reception in person, we were told the hotel was full and that we should check back in the morning. The next day, after further complaints, the manager reluctantly showed us alternative rooms—each worse than the one we were already in. When I asked if she would personally use the shower in these rooms, she had no answer. Her response kept shifting—from “no rooms are available” to “I can show you one” to admitting there was a refurbished block, then back to “no rooms available in that block” before finally conceding that a room was, in fact, available there.
After hours of back-and-forth, we were finally moved to the refurbished block. While the room was somewhat better, many of the issues remained—dirty hallways, cigarette smells, and incorrect bed arrangements.
This hotel clearly has no regard for health and safety, is dishonest with guests, and lacks basic hospitality standards. Our family was completely disappointed, and we’re leaving this review to help others avoid the same experience.
Don’t just take my word for it—look at the attached photos and see...
