Our Holm Cafe adventure 13th of November 2024 was an extraordinary experience. I was excited to make the acquaintance of 'Lady Mona', the mother of my friend for the first time and three hungry ladies who hadn’t even had breakfast were dreaming to start a pleasant day.
If I say dreams and realities... where do dreams begin and realities end? Answer: Holm Cafe on the 1st floor!
Due to the occupancy of the outdoor and ground floors, we were unintentionally located on the 1st floor. The long table and the inviting bed in front of the small window front created a very different and pleasant environment. We were seated at the head of the long table and unfortunately I cannot say that the 1st floor was treated as if it belonged to Holm Cafe and service was provided throughout our visit. My friend went up and down the stairs many times to get the menu, to place our order, for get served what we had ordered, and even to get our bill, to proceed our payment and to say goodbye.
There is a Turkish expression 'to be treated like a stepchild', which means like ‘to leave someone in the background and not give her/him much attention or importance ’. We exactly felt like ‘stepcustomers’ on the first floor of Holm Cafe!
I can't judge about the staff. The cafe was really crowded and the kitchen was very busy. We could notice this from the smells coming from the kitchen in ground floor. The problem is that the owner of the business did not assign a relevant staff for the first floor. Maybe she/he did, but the staff did not come to work with an excuse, which t’s very common in 🇪🇬.
In conclusion the omelets we ordered were very successful and tasty. The lemon-mint were also very very good! The consistency, freshness and the sweetness was perfectly matched. Every sip of pure...
Read moreThis is my favorite cafe in 2024 so far. It has THE BEST New York style strawberry cheesecake ever that is so rich and creamy and perfectly sweetened, and I'm considered a cheesecake expert by my friends, so I totally suggest you have it. The entire experience is so nice, it's located in a very pretty area so walking to it from the metro was a joy. Once you enter, you're greeted with the scents of coffee and baked goods. We chose to sit on the cozy spacious windowsill seating couch thing and that made us feel comfortable and fit 2 groups total (me and my friend, and another group of friends). The view was really pretty for sitting and for photos. We ordered spanish latte, mocha, a cheese croissant, and the cheesecake mentioned above. Overall, the plating was really nice and super fancy for the price (we paid more for places that gave us croissants on ugly plates and sometimes paper plates), the spanish latte was too sweet (almost tasted like it was sweetened with sugar alternatives) and didn't taste like it had coffee in it, but the mocha tasted so good. The best thing about the drinks was the temperature, they weren't too hot that they'd burn but were hot enough to make you feel warm. The service was excellent, the staff made us feel at home (like they state they do) and were super nice to us. For practicing muslims, just ask where you can pray and they'll take you to a place to pray, but it will be an experience hahaha. Overall best cafe experience in a very long time of getting mediocre service and food for a...
