Oldish ( Restaurant & Cafe ) — Restaurant in Geziret al Zamalik, Jazirat al Zamalik

I recently visited Oldish and had mixed feelings about the experience. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and has a great atmosphere. The service was excellent, with the staff being attentive and friendly.

However, I was quite disappointed with the food, especially considering the price. We ordered an authentic English breakfast, expecting a hearty meal with beans, halal bacon, and sausages. Unfortunately, these were missing, and instead of sausages, we were served hot dogs that you can buy frozen from a store. This was not what I envisioned for an authentic English breakfast.

The meal was expensive, costing 630 LE for two, which I found to be too high for the quality of the food we received. On a positive note, the jam and butter were a nice touch, but they didn't make up for the overall disappointment with the breakfast.

In summary, while the restaurant has a lovely ambiance and great service, the food did not meet my expectations, and it was overpriced for...

Very nice food But I have to say the service from Mahmoud Meher is top class. If anyone wants to find a proper English Speaking person then find Mahmoud in Oldish. Not many english speaking people in Cairo, so this individual is a rare gem. His service and approach is amazing. We have visited Oldish twice in our short stay and really enjoyed his service and bubbly approach.

Also note it's a good thing to tip waiters well. The national minimum wage in Egypt is very low in comparison to western countries.

Well done Mahmoud a credit to the team at Oldish and soon I hope to see you as a manager or in a top...

The challenge of any foreign tourist in Cairo is that being over charged at restaurants (getting ripped off) or not being able to understand the menu in Arabic or not sure if there is a toilet available at the restaurant etc etc. This place is beautiful and clean and service is impeccable. Also accepts Visa. Waiters speak fluent English and the menu as well. Food is fantastic while we can relax and enjoy the meal without being rushed. Billing is honest. All and all, a great place to relax. Also, espresso drinks are top notch. For once, it's not Instant coffee. 5 stars and I wish this place...
