We had an excellent dinner at Moon Bar and Restaurant in Hurghada Marina, and it is easy to see why this restaurant is rated so highly. The food was truly outstanding, a genuine 10 out of 10 experience.
As a family, we ordered the one kilo lobster, king prawns, a ribeye steak, and the salmon fillet, sharing everything between us. Our sons opted for burgers. Every dish was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The lobster was exceptional, the prawns were fresh and perfectly prepared, and the salmon was outstanding. The ribeye steak, in particular, stood out as one of the best steaks I have had in quite some time. It was served on a hot stone with a dramatic flame presentation that impressed the children and added to the occasion. We also ordered a bottle of wine, which was excellent, and it was clear that the restaurant has a thoughtful wine selection for those who appreciate a good pairing.
Service overall was attentive, though if I were to give one point of constructive feedback, our server was slightly too chatty and did not quite pick up on the fact that we wanted to spend some quiet time as a family. It was well intentioned, but a little more balance in that regard would have been ideal.
The only other thing worth noting is the pricing of the lobster. While the quality was undeniable, there was some negotiation involved. The initial price offered was 3,500 Egyptian pounds, which we agreed down to 3,000. After checking, the market rate for a one kilo lobster in the area seemed to range between 1,200 and 2,000, so it is worth being prepared to haggle if you decide to order lobster. That said, the dish itself was excellent and very memorable.
Overall, Moon Bar and Restaurant was the best of the several restaurants we tried at the Hurghada Marina. The food quality was head and shoulders above the rest, the setting was enjoyable, and the experience was memorable for the whole family. For anyone visiting Hurghada Marina, I would highly recommend it as a...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant and ordered camel steak, T-Bone steak and rib-eye. The rib-eye and the t-bone was dry and tough to chew – the meat was quite stringy. The camel meat, on the other hand, was actually pretty good. The food was served on hot stones, which kept cooking the meat – very fancy and cool.
After we were served, the staff walked away, but we noticed that one of the employees stood nearby and watched us the entire time we were eating. We found this a bit invasive and disruptive to our sense of privacy. It seemed like they were trying to make sure we had everything we needed, but it ended up just feeling uncomfortable and annoying. This really took away from the dining experience.
Considering the food wasn’t amazing either, we ended up giving the place two stars. On top of that, we ordered a mojito and a strawberry piña colada. I liked the piña colada, but the mojito tasted fishy – so bad, in fact, that we couldn’t finish it. I’d honestly recommend trying a different restaurant in the...
Read moreProbably didn't go at the best time as they had a large party in there that hadn't ordered yet so we were left to wait around an hour and 30 minutes.
Lured in with a card saying 'free drink' on one side a bottle of beer the other side a glass of wine to be given hibiscus as our free drink 🙄
I have an allergy to tomatoes I very clearly said on ordering no tomato, no tomato sauce, no tomato anywhere.
When they bought the food out there was tomato on my plate they said its only the side salad 🤦♀️ I moved it away from the rest of my food and then before eating my burger I took it apart to check it, to find tomato seeds on the bed of lettuce. To be fair to them they apologised and replaced the meal but by this time the people who I was with had already finished their food.
Pretty much defeated the point of going out for dinner together.
I won't go back there, I feel there are much better places to eat...
