1902 Restaurant — Restaurant in Taqouk Mountain

It is not our habit to leave bad reviews, but after months of planning and looking forward to this experience, the menu we were offered was awful. The inedible seafood was not fresh and the lamb was overcooked and impossible to eat. The staff are nice, but the food is not worth their efforts. One in our party ate the dessert, but overall, we hoped for much better from such a venerable fine dining establishment. Perhaps ordering a la carte would have been better than going for the prix fixe, but one will never know. Travelers tip—stick with The Terasse or one of the restaurants at the hotel where people are dining over the much lauded 1902, which had only one other group of diners in addition to us throughout the evening.

We had such an amazing time eating here every morning and having dinner at 1902. We stayed at the Sofitel for two nights and thought 1902 was the best food out of the restaurants, although the others are close 2nd!

Ahmed Baghat was so nice at breakfast. He remembered my breakfast order each morning and helped me speed off as we had an early tour.

Then at dinner Essam and Said were outstanding. We had family come with us to enjoy dinner and they were funny and very helpful. Food was on point too!

The space is spectacular and full of so much history! This was a very lovely meal out, with excellent service! The food was very good, though maybe not so great as the price point demands (we also ate at the 1886 restaurant in Luxor and the food quality here was infinitely better).
