What an experience Ülo has been! From the food to the service, and the setting, everything was a delight to the senses.
Food: we ordered 6-7 dishes and every single one of them proved to be an exquisite choice. Being a vegetarian in Europe is not always easy (outside of London) but Ülo proved to be a fantastic pick (we had a split of veggies and meat eaters) for the whole group. Special mention to the delightful peanut sauce which was truly out of this world, I'm not sure how they managed to turn what can be an insipid nut into a Michelin worthy condiment. The truffle and apple desert also proved to be another big surprise as we'd never had truffle paired with a sweet desert dish. I'd love to list every dish but I will instead summarise it this way: pick any dish on the menu, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!
All 5 cocktails we ordered were also delicious and this is coming from 4 friends who work in the alcohol industry and have had enough cocktails from established institutions to pretty much be able to write a book about them!
Service: fantastic service, attentive, friendly, smily, and very professional. There's nothing bad I could say about it, it really added a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to the whole experience and should definitely be mentioned.
Decor: concrete floors, wooden back wall, panelled glass entrance, and a delightful emerald green tiled wall. This is what you can expect at Ülo and every single part of the decor works to enhance the others. Very much making the most of its Nordic influence, Ülo's decor, again, adds to the overall experience and makes for an unforgettable one.
Overall, we spent 6 days in Tallin and manage to cram a lot of activities in there, long walk in snow covered woods, various amazing restaurants, a brilliant bar/club for NYE, museums, tunnel visits, castle visits, and more ...but Ülo managed to make it as the most memorable part of our Tallin trip for...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at ULO and I have to say, it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish.
The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a modern and chic decor that immediately set the tone for a memorable evening. The service was top-notch, with the waitstaff being incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs.
But most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. From the appetizers to the main course and dessert, every dish was expertly prepared and presented with care. The flavors were bold and perfectly balanced, and each bite was a true delight.
One standout dish was the Udon noodles and a peanut sauce that came with the starters which was cooked to perfection and full of complex and nuanced flavors. I also have to give a shoutout to the truffle ice-cream & apple pudding which was the perfect way to end the meal.
Overall, I would highly recommend ULO to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for a romantic date night or a casual meal with friends, this restaurant has something...
Read moreI used to go to this restaurant a lot, but after what happened a few days ago, I will never return. I had also recommended this place to many people, but I’ll never do that again. I went there with friends for a birthday celebration, and at first, everything seemed fine. The waitress was a bit sarcastic and unpleasant, but I didn’t mind. My friends brought me a cake, and we took a few pictures with it and had a couple of bites.
Then, the waitress made a comment like, 'Oh, that’s not good,' and walked away. We put the cake back, and I still have most of it in my fridge.
Afterward, I paid the bill, but just as I was about to leave, I noticed that the waitress had added four pieces of cake to the bill—€6 each, totaling €24—WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING. She even left a sarcastic comment on the bill: 'See you soon, and you can try our dessert next time.' I didn’t make a scene, and we left, but the waitress was clearly pleased with herself. I hope she will have the life that...
