We had lunch at Nonna Sophia on a regular Tuesday around 13 o'clock. Their ad said they have a lunch buffet. The salad selection was quite adequate. Bread, sundried tomato spread and olive tapenade were ok. However, the tomato-mozzarella salad was out of mozzarella. Also some other bowls were rather empty and therefore we were not sure if all the ingredients were there. The meatballs and pasta was almost all gone, so it was not enough for us three guests. There were a few different pizzas which were tasty (margarita and hot salami). Unfortunately, the food was not warm, it was almost cold. The heat lamps were obviously not enough to keep the food hot. We realized there also should have been cauliflower soup according to lunch menu, so we asked about it. The waitress (or cook?) behind the bar promised us soup in a few minutes and kept that promise. The soup was delicious and, thank god, hot. Since there were a lot of staff members (we saw at least three) around and we were the only guests in the dining room, we feel the staff should have paid more attention to us guests and also what was served in the lunch buffet. Absolute no-go to serve NO bread to the mixed antipasti starter at an Italian Restaurant!
The next no-go is that although we mentioned this to the staff, the restaurant chef insisted the customer to buy the bread to that basic Italian dish.
Moreover the restaurant was that chilly that one needed to wear scarfs to not get a cold.
Although one of the best pizzas in town - such bad service might work with one-time tourists but surely it will be not a local advertising booster, as being on the higher priced restaurants in town and knowing the other great pizza place is almost next door and another restaurants featuring delicious bread selection for free to all their dishes!
And by the way the espresso cups should be pre-warmed that the espresso stays warm when served!
