We stumbled upon "Smör" when checking for restaurants in Turku, decided we would indulge ourselves and reserved a table for two for the next day.

Opted for the four course seasonal menu as vegetarian variant and chose the alcoholic & non-alcoholic drink pairing.

When the first course arrived we at first thought that we did not properly communicate our desire for the vegetarian variant or that there was an error - turns out it just looked like roe/caviar but was, infact, not!

The food looked and tasted impeccable and the drink pairing was well chosen. The non-alcoholic drinks were a mixture of teas and juices and were an experience of their own! We were glad we opted for a different drink pairing each, originally because we didn't want to drink too much alcohol, in the end because the non-alcoholic ones were something entirely different!

The service was very attentive and enjoyable and the chef brought out food courses himself.

If you're looking for a new food experience, don't look further when you're in Turku, can only recommend.

See photos for the dishes, sadly I can't recount all the dishes and ingredients as the menu does (understandably) not list dietary variations from the standard set, so take the captions to the dishes with a huge...

Chanced upon this restaurant looking for Finnish food and was surprised by the standards and attention to detail which was Michelin in my books. Had to check after my visit if I had ate in a Michelin restaurant and was surprised it was only a mention and not even a star. Restaurant only have 2 set menus to choose from Basic to Sumptuous. They also have wine pairing in case of interest. All dishes were served by the chef directly to table explaining the composition and ingredients, whilst the server had excellent eye for service and clean up the table after every dish, just as Michelin standard does. All ingredients sourced locally and my favourite was surprisingly the bread! I can't explain it but it was crispy on the outside whilst soft and fluffy inside, and freshly baked so you'll see it steaming as you tear them. I did not get the name of my female server unfortunately but she was amazing and I reckon she definitely has great background experience serving. If I was ever in Turku again I will definitely return to visit! Give this restaurant a Michelin...

I was excited to try Smör to get some experimental Nordic food and all my expectations were met. I had the full set and all the optional drinks along with the non-alcoholic drink set.

First, the food was excellent. I would say my favorites were all in the appetizer menu and the bread tasting with an amazing tomato goat cheese dipping sauce. The desert was excellent as well, it's hard to say it wasn't just impeccable after every taste. The only complaints are the fish and rabbit meals were too salty for me and my table, but I wouldn't let that stop you.

The non-alcoholic drinks were a mix of juices and some teas each with their own spin. They paired well with the dish. My favorite was the camomile tea and the first being a sparkling white tea (from Denmark).

The service was great and we were seated alone most the night in a backroom which looked like an old wine cellar. Very cozy with candle light ambiance and smooth music in the background.

Overall, it was an amazing experience and I left full and...

An institution in Turku. If you want to visit Turkus most well known fine dining restaurant choose this place for your dinner. First time I got to taste what they had to offer was a new years seven course dinner. The food was simply magical from presentation to taste. One of the most special meals was a game meat platter with dry ice. Service at the restaurant was very friendly and relaxed. The presentations of the courses were very well done. Atmosphere of the restaurant is classic fine dining. You don’t need to wear your sunday bests and wearing relaxed casual clothes Is fine.

The signature menu looks like a good portion at first sight, but actually the courses are quite small. Half of them I would consider as just an amouse bouche, the others as just starters. Such menus normally are good to fill you up for a whole day, but here I did not felt so full afterwards, even though I already had 2 full meals with several courses 4 and 9 hours before. The braised cod with grilled kale and white currant was the highlight of this menu. The bread is basically what somehow sates you in this menu.
