Worst experience of my life (not just in a restaurant). I was physically attacked by the owner, being punched in the face, kicked and had my finger broken. My 87 year old father was pushed down the stairs to the floor. Even my wife and mother were assaulted.
For your safety, I advise you never to go near this restaurant. I visited with my wife and two, 87 year old parents. One of our meals, a steak, was burned beyond recognition and served with yesterday’s French fries. We sent this back and did not order a replacement. At the end of the meal a bill for 133 Euros arrived, including the steak. We explained that the steak was inedible, that we had sent it back and that we would pay the bill minus 19 Euros for the steak. The owner’s wife immediately became aggressive and insisted ever more loudly that we pay it all. When we got nowhere, we asked for her to call the police, and she said she would. When they didn’t arrive, I called the police who confirmed that no one had called them. We confronted the owner and it became clear they had no intention of calling the police. At this point we became very concerned and made to leave the restaurant only for the owner to attack us, baring the door and stealing my mobile when I again went to phone the police. There then followed a 5 minute melee with me trying to defend my parents and wife from injury. During this I was punched in the face, kicked and had my finger broken. My 87 year old father was pushed down the stairs, falling to the floor. Thank god, the intervention of a (large) friend of the owner to try and calm thing down gave us a window to escape.
Did we go to the police? No, we were just grateful to get out alive and back to the hotel. The thought of spending all night in a police station did not appear and we had to leave the next morning. I wish I had, however.
Oh, and regarding the food – even the edible meals were poor (with the exception of a passable octopus). There are far better places in Aix at better prices – I suggest, dear reader, that you try...
Read moreIt is the worst cafe in whole France! We were three people and ordered three meals but the waiter (asian guy) brought only 2 meals. Instead of saying sorry he lied that the kitchen is closed however the 2 meals were cooked for us by that kitchen! Then, the food got cold and was not tasty itself because we were waiting until the waiter brings carpaccio with baked potatoes for our friend. Instead, the waiter brought fries. After additional 10 min waiting, he finally brought what was ordered. We should have left without paying that place. We strongly suggest not to go to La Ruelle! Our evening was completely spoiled and yours...
A fuir.
