Le Bouillon Aixois — Restaurant in Aix-en-Provence

This was a disappointing experience overall.

My wife asked for a soft drink - the waiter recommended a lemonade and then proceeded to bring her a Sprite. Then, I ordered the Ratatouille for a starter, which was a cold mulch of veggies on the plate. The courgette was fizzy, suggesting it was off. I told this to the waiter - he took my plate and offered no further feedback on the matter. I asked him if he was going to take my knife and fork, which were dirty and lying in the middle of the table and he said "you have a main coming no?", so they were left with me.

My main was mashed potato and a sausage. The mash was very lumpy and not flavourful. Sausage was fine.

Desert was good. Tarte au Citron. The other waiters were very friendly.

I would not go back and I would not recommend this...

This is a place with traditional Provence food, where a dynamic team made us feel welcomed. We tried almost all of the entrees and main dishes and we enjoyed them all. The service is great, and the personnel is patient and helpful. The duck is to die for but so is the stew and the "brandade de morue". You have to try the Monaco prepared in the house, if your are looking for a beer with a nice twist. The owner/ manager of the place cares about the clients, and we felt privileged meeting her. She also cares about her team, and that can be clearly seen in the interactions with the personnel. The wait time is minimal if you go there a bit before the opening time of 7:00 pm. À la base je ne voulais pas rédiger d’avis pour éviter de casser un restaurent qui vient d’ouvrir car je comprend que les débuts peuvent être compliqués mais c’est aussi grave aux avis que vous pouvez vous améliorer si vous les prenez en compte Points positifs : Ambiance chaleureuse, à la bonne franquette comme on aime Plat très bien faits, de bonnes saveurs, un vrai délice

Points à améliorer : Les quantités, en effet avoir un demi filet de poisson ou seulement 2 tranches de pain (surtout vu le temps qu’on a attendu pour l’avoir) a fait qu’on est resté sur notre faim en partant. Et en voyant les autres avis je me dis que je ne suis pas la seule à le penser

La qualité du service, pour reprendre l’exemple du pain on a demandé d’avoir du pain à l’entrée (on a dû relancer la demande d’ailleurs) et on l’a reçu au plat (pour seulement 2 malheureuses tranches). Ensuite on voulait commander un dessert mais nous n’avons jamais eu la carte, on a attendu vraiment beaucoup de temps au point que la salle soit presque vide. Lorsqu’on a reçu la carte après avoir relancé le serveur on s’est aperçues que il restait qu’une seule autre table qui était entrain de finir son dessert donc on avait pas envie d’être les seules dans la salle à manger notre dessert donc on a préférer partir prendre un dessert ailleurs.

En toute transparence je pense qu’il y a encore quelques point à améliorer pour considérer que le restaurent est un véritable bouillon mais c’est bien évidement normal puis-ce que c’est un nouveau restaurent et Rome ne s’est pas faite en un jour. Mais j’espère un jour pouvoir revenir et repartir avec le sourire parce que le concept et top et les plats, bien que faible en quantité, étaient très bons (mention spéciale à la bourride) mais malheureusement j’en garde une amère expérience pour l’instant notamment à cause de la qualité de service qui doit être...
