I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Restaurant La Frutière in Val Thorens, and I must say, it was an absolute disappointment from start to finish. My friends and I had high hopes for a satisfying lunch experience on the slopes, but it turned out to be quite the opposite.
First and foremost, let's talk about the abysmal service we received. Not only did the staff fail to provide us with new cutlery when transitioning from our starters to our main courses, but their response to our simple request was downright rude. It was as if we were inconveniencing them by expecting basic table service. The lack of attentiveness and professionalism was glaringly evident throughout our entire meal.
Now, onto the food itself. While the presentation may have been reminiscent of a Michelin-starred establishment, the quality was anything but impressive. Take, for example, the artichoke starter we ordered. What arrived at our table was a pitiful excuse for an artichoke – a mere quarter deep-fried and presented in a manner that attempted to mask its lack of flavor. It was nothing short of a culinary disappointment.
As if that wasn't enough, our main course, the rack of lamb, was a complete letdown. Instead of the succulent rack we were expecting, we were served three measly lamb chops that barely justified their exorbitant price tag of over 40 euros. The portion size was laughable, and the quality left much to be desired. It was evident that we were paying a premium for subpar fare.
In conclusion, Restaurant La Frutière in Val Thorens is undoubtedly the worst spot for dining in the area. From the appalling service to the underwhelming food quality, it was an experience I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Save your money and your taste buds, and steer clear of this establishment...
Read moreThe quality of this restaurant has really deteriorated over the last couple of seasons. For the second year in a row, sitting inside was cold and draughty and the diners nearest the door had to request blankets. The waiting staff are no longer friendly and welcoming and the experience is not what it used to be. There is a emphasis on timings and sittings so you will be warned about not ordering your meal promptly and you will be asked to vacate your table if you overstay your slot, whether you have had the chance to order desserts or not. We were even told to keep our cutlery between courses as there wasn't enough in the restaurant to give us a new set for our main courses! The food is still good but without the excellent service and convivial atmosphere, I am not tempted to return. There are better restaurants...
Read moreHere you pay just for the party experience with amazing view. The cocktail almond mai tai was so unusual! I’d repeat it many times! During party time the place is super busy so the food can’t have any changes or wishes ( like I asked for no onion and my partner asked a medium rare burger and they refused. They cook only in one way for everyone). So high prices only for location and party vibe but definitely no kitchen. Waiters were super positive and dancing...
