The location is unbeatable. The terrace gives an amazing view on the village and the mountains. We had hesitated between this restaurant and a Michelin 1-star, and finally chose here based on the Google review. Given the price tag, I think the presentation is at the right level however the taste needs to be improved. Ordered a 6-course menu, including the chef’s signature dish of truffled egg. The taste of truffle was subdued and blended well with the egg but it did not add another layer to the palette. Lamb was well cooked but the sauce was unfortunately too salty. Crab in chartreuse sauce was an invention but not a taste easy to accept. The only dish that impressed me was the abalone (ormeau) and the home-made bread was very very good. The Michelin star restaurant within the Hotel Koh-I Nor is astounding. There is a large terrace with superb views of Val Thorens. The staff are friendly, informative and extremely polite. The interior has vibes of a small woodland, with pine cones and miss decorating the tables and even the cheese board. I dined on the mountain-to-table tasting menu which was excellent; starting with an amuse bouche, bread rolls with homemade butter and the option of an aperatif. Was very happy with the staff and the food on the initial day was very pleasant however I was very let down on my last night when it took over an hour to receive my main course and I ended up leaving in the end along with my family. I’m sure the staff were very busy however if the kitchen were so overwhelmed they should have let the customers know that they should have waited or ‘gone off’ to do something else.
