Service had a horrible attitude. One of our friends found a fly/bug inside of their fries. The barman apologised and sent the fry (bug still attached) to the kitchen, however they did not replace the fries.
When we settled the bill we brought up the issue with the service staff, they discussed with us about how they couldn't give us compensation for the contaminated fries because our friend had already almost finished her food. However, she only found the fly once she almost got to the bottom of her fries.
We discussed for a few more minutes, but because we had to rush we just said we would pay the bill.
However, one of the waitresses had a very arrogant attitude (I believe a manager/owner). They claimed that it was “impossible” for there to be flies in the kitchen and that the fly could only have flown in once we got our food. No matter how we argued they refused to admit fault or give us any form of compensation.
Ironically, I immediately saw a fly flying around the entrance of the kitchen when we were settling the bill. I took a picture and video of the kitchen, but then the waitress then angrily said “excuse me, nonono no video no fly, no fly!”
In the end, once we settled the bill with the waitress, she said “thank you” to us multiple times in a very sarcastic and arrogant way.
I hope she maintains this attitude in the future when she files for bankruptcy.
(Picture below is from the video I took, you can observe that the kitchen has no barriers/doors to separate from the outside. The black dot in the circle is the fly...

Our French is a bit limited, we're tourists. Once I started speaking English, we were completely ignored by the staff. At the beginning, we thought maybe we were wrong so we waited a bit, but then we saw new customers sitting down, and those were served (not immediately, but still). In the end, we had to leave.
I frankly didn't expect that in such a touristic town and such a busy restaurant, the staff wouldn't speak a word in English, the international language.
We also went to another place on that same street, and we encountered the same problem with English, however, the bar tender (he looked more like the manager) made an effort, and we finally got our drinks.
I hope this can be improved as I know there are EU subsidies for catering professionals to learn basic English...
Read moreHi, i just wanted to share my experience at L’abbaye. I went there today earlier and me together with my family wanted to go inside because it was cold outside, and the waiter behaved to arrogant saying to us that we need do go outside if we don’t want to eat there, even tho they were a lot of tables just with drinks only. So i let that go and we came again that afternoon, we sat outside and there was no one coming to take our order, even tho people who came after us they were getting served. So we changed the table three times waiting for someone to come until we decided to go inside and ask if there is a problem and they said that we sat in a table that was not cleaned so we changed the table again and still no one came. Im just a visitor here thats why I don’t want that service like this to ruined my experience. The time was...
