We saw the photos and reviews and decided to give it a try.
The amuse-bouche was a light liquid soup, it was quite nice but the ginger was a bit over powering. May be good if you like ginger and it does cleanse the palate.
I had the fried egg with spinach in parsley emulsion as starter, it was simple and runny in the middle, very light starter and I liked it.
The main I had two small version of mains. First I had the roasted autumn vegetable which was delicious but the celeriac puree that comes with it was a bit too oily for me. The small yellow citrus fruit helps to cut through that oiliness though.
The second main was pan fried white fish (pollock?) with thinly sliced fennel on a bed of spelt risotto. The fish was pan fried to perfection, hot and crispy on one side, cooked but succulent on the other.
The dessert I chose was French toasted brioche, poached spiced pear and salted caramel. The flavours were excellent in this dessert, I enjoyed it.
There was some confusion in the beginning which means we waited more than 30 mins for the starters to come. The chef let my partner have a choice of a glass of wine and I had a nice pot of green tea for the wait. After the starters, they were able to provide the rest of the dishes in a...
Read moreWhilst in Annecy, it happened to be my wedding anniversary, and it would be sacrilege not to find a romantic restaurant for my wife and I to celebrate 22 years of not killing each other. Anyone who knows Annecy will know it's not exactly lacking in good places to eat, but this place stood out, and we booked for an evenings dinner. This place was the perfect choice for our anniversary. The food was exquisite, perfectly presented like fine art, and absolutely delicious. The ladies serving were so on point it made other restaurant serving staff look like amateurs. They were without doubt the most focused and enthusiastic waitresses I'd ever experienced and made the night feel like it was just about us. The decor in Le Bouillon is beautiful and simplistic. Their reviews do them justice and I hope mine only...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible dinner here with the most delicious food. The hake and duck were both substantial and delicious. The asparagus with an egg and the soup starters were fabulous. The cheese plate was the best in ages with the local Savoy tomme cheese and the strawberry rhubarb item for dessert also was amazing. Very, very creative dishes and presentation, like we were in a 3 star Michelin restaurant (but better in many ways especially the ambiance). Price was extremely reasonable.
Only complaint is the red wines by the glass had mostly gone bad and the cote de Rhône had gone extremely bad. Still don’t understand why some restaurants still give you the wine by the glass when it has obviously gone extremely bad. You can smell it very easily. So we drank the crémant de Savoy all night which...
