Le Viet-nam — Restaurant in Avignon

I returned here after 5 years, and the food was just as good as I remember. I spent a lot of time eating viet food in Southern California growing up (Westminster) and know authentic. This place is wonderful, and I'm glad we made the effort to have Vietnamese in France again. Same owner and same friendly service. Great place that has been here for 35 years. Ever tried a Pho Bo? Or Peking Duck? Yes or no; this is the place whether you have eaten it or not. Authentic and made from scratch. Best Pho I have ever had elsewhere than Vietnam. Little lack of spice; but easily corrected with the homemade chillipaste on the side. Tried also the Duck and a delicious vegetarian dish. Very polite and friendly service; had open an hour longer just for us. Nice housewine from the region; made the whole experience a very good memory...Thank...

This place is tucked into a side street close to the center of Avignon. I was attracted by the beautiful ambiance, inside and out, and the reasonable prices.

The quantity of food was in and of its self sufficient. The service was fast and attentive. And yet, the pho I ordered tasted like water, and the noodles were old, stale, and had the consistency of rubbery spaghetti.

And so, while I enjoyed the location, ambiance, and service, the food itself was poor....
