Le Maufoux — Restaurant in Beaune

We were recommended this restaurant by a local and weren´t disappointed. It is my favourite kind of restaurant - small and quaint, 1 page of food and 30 pages of wines (although the wine list was a bit overwhelming). Service was helped well with choosing a wine Easy table reservation via google maps. The service was nice, drinks and food came rather quickly. Our puppy was welcome as well. Snails (recommended by the same local) are very well seasoned - not too much garlic (barely at all) and lots of parsley in the butter. For our mains, we had eggs parfaits Meurette (absolutely amazing, all wholesome flavours are clearly identifiable and in perfect harmony) and sea bream carpaccio, which was a bit like ceviche, very imaginative and tasty. My husband had rice pudding with salted caramel and roasted hazelnuts which had very nice texture and depth of flavour. I personally would never put a rice pudding on a small dessert menu, as it is a breakfast dish in some cultures. All in all, we had a great evening and enjoyed our food a lot. We both thought that 32€ for 2 courses was reasonable price for the quality of the food. If you don´t have great ambitions in wine, you will spend a lot less than our average drinking wines by the glass (tested, also very good celection) or...

We came here for dinner on a Friday night. The main dining room is tiny and tables are very close to each other. There is also another room in the back. The nice thing is the open kitchen, but it also has it cons when they cook the escargot ala bourguignonne and you try to sniff the wine. The service is friendly and informal. The food is well cooked (we had the tuna tataki (not how one would expect), the cod and the pork) and nicely presented. If you want a delicious meal at reasonable price, this is your place. I came all the way from the US to this tiny restaurant because of its GoogleMaps reviews. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was delighted that I came. The food was superb and the service was also first-rate. My server was friendly and considerate. I had the snails and cod.
