We were initially very excited to come here. We were sat down very swiftly by a kind waitress who welcomed and spoke to us in english. We were served tap water and given a normal amount of time to decide what we wanted to order.
I chose to have the 2 course gourmet menu, choosing a foie gras with salad starter and a steak with red wine sauce for mains. my girlfriend decided to order the smoked salmon salad for start, the chicken in lemon sauce for main and the crème brûlée for pudding. Upon ordering our food we were prompted before ordering, during ordering, and after ordering to also order some wine with our food despite us saying not wanting to have any wine with the meal many times.
the foie gras was interesting and exciting. it came with salad small slices of sweet bread and a dried fig with some red savoury jam and some salt to cleanse the palette. i was impressed and felt like i was experiencing french fine dining. the salmon salad was tasty, and there was a decent amount of salmon. it came with sliced smoked salmon, salad, and bread.
i like to have my steak medium rare, and upon being asked how i would like it i requested as such. the waitress then informed me that it would have to be either rare or medium since the chefs in the kitchen didn’t do it like that. she said that if it’s too underdone she can always take it back to the kitchen to have it cooked for longer. i requested medium and then changed my mind to rare. when it came, i attempted to cut into the meat but was surprised since the knife was almost completely blunted, making it hard to cut into the steak. i asked for another knife and it was slightly better, but only slightly. when i cut into the steak i did unfortunately find it to be far too underdone for my liking. despite the sauce being lovely i needed to send my steak back to have it be cooked more so i could enjoy it. it came back in only a few minutes and it had been made to medium. unfortunately the steak was bland and very chewy. a portion of the fat was cold and solid. i don’t know much about cooking, but i feel with a bit of salt, pepper, butter, thyme and garlic i could make a far better steak than what i paid 20 odd euros for, using meat from the supermarket. nevertheless i ate it all except some of the fat, and had the rest of the sauce and salad with chips. The chicken was good, my girlfriend also struggled to cut into it with the knives provided. The lemon sauce was good but too much of it, which made it overpowering- it would’ve been nicer with less sauce, since the chicken itself was very tasty. However, there were a couple of pink bits in the middle of the chicken; it didn’t make my girlfriend sick, so maybe this is how they cook here. very tender and moreish meat. seemingly better quality than the steak
the afters was a crème brûlée and it was very nice, the dish was hot and the top was crispy. the pudding itself wasn’t too sweet and it had a very nice taste and texture. once again i was prompted outside of my chosen menu, to order a dessert, which would have taken the price of my meal up. i understand this is common business practice but it seemed a bit excessive and a small bit unprofessional. i felt it was a bit of a weird thing to suggest since i hadn’t particularly enjoyed my meal so much as i was excited for it and it felt like a cop out to get some more P’s off of me.
all in all it was a very average dinner. however i have had a lot better from places a lot cheaper. Maybe have a look around before coming here, there are many gems around...
Read moreWe had such a pleasant time at Le Parlement des Graves! We were pleased to be serve during the afternoon since they were doing a non stop service all day. The food was absolutely delicious, we can tell that everything is fresh and homemade. We shared different dishes; goat cheese salad, lieu noire (white fish) and magret de canard and everything was sublime. We also accompanied our meal with some cocktails and of course some Bordeaux wines, the waiter Loane recommended us the best wine to pair with our meal! We stayed at our table for a couple of hours on the terrace since the weather was lovely and we felt really comfortable, this little street of Bordeaux is really cute. A big thank you to Loane, our beautiful waiter! She was always smiling and attentive to our needs! I recommend this place for the quality of the food and for the service but also for their affordable menu we will definitely be back to try some...
Read moreWe were looking for something French and good for our first day in France. We had just missed our walking tour and decided to go ahead and make an afternoon of it.
Le Parlement des Graves started that day out amazingly. Service was super friendly and easy. The food was to die for and the drinks and wine were perfect.
Foie Gras perfectly cooked, Margret des canard cut thin but still moist, flavourful and utterly delicious with seasonal vegetables and chocolate mousse for dessert. Plus wine for me. For my wife and appy and two cocktails and water all for 70 euros. Not bad.
The food was the cheapest part and was truly excellent.
Not to undersell our server who was busy doing prep the entire time we were in there but never missed an opportunity to...
