Le Nord-Oué — Restaurant in Boulogne-sur-Mer

Boulogne-Sur-Mer was our last stop on our 6 day honeymoon trip around Europe. We chose here to have dinner and selected this restaurant as it had high reviews on Trip Advisor. When we arrived, the person at the bar didn't speak any English, didn't understand we had reserved a table until my wife showed her the email. We were then sat at a table and then left for about 20 minutes, until the same person came over to get drinks orders.

These arrived shortly after ordering which was great, however there were no menus on the table, and the person seemed to have forgotten about us. We asked for a menu, the lady came over with a small chalk board with starter, main and dessert listed on. All in French.

I downloaded Google translate to figure out what some where, and we made our choices.

I highly recommend the prawns to start! amazing. However the fish my wife had (pictured) was lacking in amount, she had 4 small pieces, which for 14€ was very expensive. I ordered the steak Tartane, not realising it was raw beef, not a steak at all. I didn't eat mine.

We felt like the staff were very unbothered by our presence here, which was a shame as it had so many good things said about it.

Having someone speak English (or at least some) would go a very long way as we were not the only English people there by time we left. Not ignoring us would have been nice, and a menu that was both in English and French, to serve everyone, as they obviously serve both nationalities from what we observed and the Trip Advisor reviews.

We wont be revisiting here, but I hope things are...

Lovely restaurant - had dinner with Son and Mate Saturday evening - book ahead as it gets busy. Great food. Easy parking too just over the road. Had smoked salmon and crab starter and also the prawns - divine. For main we bad lamb which was fantastic and a fish dish again beautiful presentation and full of flavour. Two of us had creme brûlée and I had some sort of meringue with chocolate and cream - that was a bit too sweet in all honesty but nice all the same. Overall very good place for dinner if you find yourself...

Another superb dinner at this cosy family restaurant! Great value meals from a limited selection offering a bias towards fish dishes. When you consider UK high street offerings, this gem is incomparable on price and quality. You just have to accept that the servings take a little time to prepare fresh but it's of no matter when in good company. Unfortunately, by the time the sweet board was shown we were all too full.
