What I can say more apart from a fine art experience. It’s not excellent in culinary wise, but aesthetically pleasing as well. The atmosphere, the seat, the food, everything is not only fine food but also fine arts. We had a very great afternoon there and just cannot help falling in love with the place.
The set menu was more than value, at 28 euros, we got the lovely appetizer that was beautifully decorated as if it’s the loveliest garden, then the perfect pink salmon with truffled green lentils that is so aromatic, and then the lovely pear pie.
We also ordered the perfect egg which is eye opening. Never had anything like this before, something in between chawanmushi but so airy and light, accompanied by potato and lardon - it’s like magic. The duck is amazing as well but the polenta is even better. Creamy, soft and flavorful, totally turned former polenta hater like me to love it.
The best of the best is the guy who I believe is the owner? He is super sweet to us throughout the whole lunch and even before that when I ran in a day earlier trying to get me and my mom a table, and even with the booking is super full, he tried to squeeze us in and on the day, gave us the most beautiful table of us. Thank you again!
Overall please please please don’t hesitate to go and have a great experience here at L’Arpège, but don’t forget to book ahead or you might miss as they are always...
Read moreWhat an absolutely magical experience at L'Arpège. We sent an email a month in advance asking to reserve a table for two for our wedding anniversary. We arrived to a stunning table in a hidden secret garden nook decorated with a beautiful sign wishing us a happy anniversary and hearts all over the table. What a spectacular and unexpected touch. The service was incredible. They were eager to tell us everything about the products and have us sample the wine we were interested in, to ensure we would be happy. They changed their menu - it's not just meat/fish/veggie... You can mix and match, now. You had a selection of entrees, plats, and desserts. We choose the egg with asparagus and chèvre ravioli as our entrees. Both were incredible. My husband had the beef as his main, and I had "faux Maki" with tofu and vegetables. He said his was incredible. I liked mine a lot but there was a strong citronella flavour in the maki or the peanut sauce that was too much for me (just a personal preference and not a comment on the amazing dish). My husband adored my dish. Dessert was a "cafe gourmet" style sampler and there was not a single imperfect dessert on the dish. Every single one was amazing. The entire experience was pure magic. The food was filled with love, care, and passion. I am so grateful this is where we chose to celebrate our special day. I will...
Read moreAbsolutely my favorite restaurant of all time! The staff (who I later found out owned the place- truly a family owned an operated local gem) made us feel like old friends rather the tourist that we were. The food was beyond delicious. Simple, perfectly done meat that was sooo tender and good paired with a pop of flavor as a base. Both the pigeon and venison that we tried were heavenly....and this is coming from someone who rarely eats meat...and often more than satisfied with only a bite of quality steak from time to time...here I cleaned the plate and if my stomach was larger would have gladly ate more! The appetizer was fantastic too...and wine suggestions were perfectly paired with our meal. Then came to desserts and infused rum...neither options I order often but here could not resist...tasty, delicate yet wonderfully fresh without being dependent on sugar for taste. And rum- wow! Made my the pastry chef (who also owns and is brother n law to the owner of the restaurant) they were a treat in themselves. You only get a meal like this when the owners’ truly love food...my only regret is not being able to taste more of the menu. Highly highly recommend and...
