Category: Wine Bar. We’ve never been BOB (Big on Burgundy), but could become BOBs after visiting this great wine bar. The atmosphere is cool and polished, with hints of the Old-World. We sat downstairs but ventured upstairs for a peek at the impressive wine wall and wine-dominant dining room (I know what you’re thinking: what the heck does that mean? For the answer, see the photos). There’s also a big outdoor patio with heaters and what appears to be a retractable awning. But alas, it was retracted when we visited and therefore unusable because of the rain. There were also several sidewalk tables outside the front door but they were unused for the same rainy reason. This establishment serves both wine and food, but if you go only for wine, as we did, you can sit at the bar and consume nothing but vin rouge (or blanc if you so choose), to your heart’s content. The wine list is quite extensive (there are wine bottles everywhere, in every nook and cranny) and many wines are offered by the glass, which is what we were hunting. We ordered four burgundies by the glass, two for each of us, and cross-pollinated, so we were each able to drink about a half glass of four local wines. They were all exactly as the Doctor (Wine) ordered. The physician’s assistants were all hyper friendly and made Herculean efforts to understand our terrible French and only slightly better English. If you are interested in food too, there is a small but we’ll-curated menu of shareables (6p to 8:30p only), entrees, mains, and desserts. We loved this place. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

I admit that my husband and I had higher expectations after having great experiences at several wine bars in Burgundy and Chablis. In addition, this wine bar was recommended on some of the renamed sites. Maybe that's why we were quite disappointed. Although the ambiance in the courtyard is attractive, it is not so pleasant when it is filled with people. The tables are too close together and the waiters don't have enough room to maneuver, so someone is constantly pushing or hitting you. I was very disappointed with the food. Maybe it was my bad choice, but first of all, Soy glazed chicken with fried basmati rice was such a small portion that you could eat it in a few bites, and the rice was not fried and not basmati. Moreover, it was overcooked and watery without any taste. The wines are overpriced and they don’t really a good choice of wines by glass which you would expect for a place like this. The waiters were friendly, but unfortunately they were overloaded with a large amount of people, so the waiting time was really too long.

This was the worst restaurant experience we’ve ever had. The food was awful — cold, sticky tagliatelle and a meat patty instead of the steak we ordered for our child. Unsurprisingly, the child refused to eat it. The duck with fried potatoes came with burnt potatoes (photo attached). The wine service was even worse. We ordered a Montrachet, visit card of Burgundy, one of their most expensive wines, but it was poured into a tiny white wine glass. When I asked for a proper Burgundy glass, I was told they didn’t have one, and the staff implied I didn’t know how wine should be served. Later, they even poured Pinot Noir into the same small glass that had been used for another wine and reacted rudely when we asked for a clean one. We spent a lot of money and left completely disappointed. Food, service, and respect for the product are shockingly bad here. Definitely not recommended.

I would give 10 stars if I could. An incredible and unforgettable dining experience. From the moment we made the reservation on the phone, the person was extremely friendly and helpful. Managed to give us a table even though we booked last minute.

Once we got there, the staff was clearly busy, but still so kind and politely explained to us that we would have to free up our table fo four by 9pm, to which we happily agreed as we were glad to have a table already.

The entire wait and sommelier staff was extremely smiley, had good enough English to speak to my parents, and were so patient with us as we chose our food and drinks.

Now for the food. Quite a lot of options! I like that they’re in small portions so that we can try a lot of their food. They even have a menu that goes with red wine, and one that goes with the white wine. But we weren’t obligated to order wine with the special menu if we didn’t want to. Very affordable and good value. We honestly ate as much as we wanted.

My dad and I did order wine (when in Dijon right?). I chose a white wine from Bourgogne, and my dad chose a Pinot Noir from Bourgogne as well.

Rémi, the person who came to serve us the wine, was extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about wine as he introduced each bottle to us. Can’t begin to explain how likeable and funny he was. He clearly loves his job and wants the clients to have a great time.

The entire staff was actually so great. When I looked at the way they served wine to other tables, it was quite impressive to watch. The restaurant was extremely packed and buzzing, but they managed to be so kind and available for us every time we needed something. We honestly appreciated each staff member that came to serve us (as we didn’t just have 1 waiter, but many different people came at different times to serve us).

A truly incredible and unforgettable experience. My dad won’t forget you Rémi! Thank you to the entire staff for the good food, amazing wine, excellent service, and...

We found this restaurant through Google and decided to go straight there because of its excellent reviews and appealing menu. We had high expectations and were genuinely looking forward to the evening.

As we arrived, we waited by the entrance to be greeted. A staff member approached us very quickly, and I said, “Hi, do you have a table for two?” He responded with a French greeting I didn’t understand — possibly “bonsoir” — and then seemed annoyed that we didn’t reply in the same way. I assumed he was just continuing in French, which is common in France, so I repeated my question in English to make it clear we didn’t speak French. Instead of switching or helping us along, he repeated the greeting multiple times in a way that felt like he was demanding that we say it back.

We went along with it just to get seated, but once we were at the table, he returned with menus and then began giving me a passive-aggressive lecture — something along the lines of how “all you need is to greet someone politely.” I can only guess he didn’t hear my initial “hi,” but being scolded like that as a guest felt both inappropriate and unwelcoming.

When you’re dining out — especially in a new country — you’re in a slightly vulnerable position, relying on the service staff to help set the tone for your experience. Instead, we felt embarrassed and uncomfortable. So we decided to leave and went to another restaurant where we had a truly wonderful evening and respectful service.

As someone who has worked in high-end hospitality in Scandinavia for years — and who spends a lot of time visiting and reviewing good places — I want to offer a small tip to the staff member: Part of the job is making guests feel welcome, not lecturing or confronting them for not meeting personal expectations. And, on a lighter personal note:...

Wow! My wife and I visited Dr Wine while staying in Dijon on our Honeymoon (on our way to Beaune). The food and wine options were excellent. The menu is tapas style and you can either choose the recommendations or your own tapas and wine. We chose our own tapas and paired it with wine ourselves. We had 4 courses with 4 different wines split between us. The food was excellent and we were very impressed with the speed of service.

The wine menu itself was brilliant, and reasonably priced for brilliant wines by the glass. We were particularly impressed with the 2 Dr Wine collaboration wines that we enjoyed firstly, 2021 BOURGOGNE Cuvée Dr. Wine Domaine Paul Pillot. This white was crazy with such a powerful scent and flavour of toast/ sesame seeds. Secondly, 2022 HAUTES-CÔTE DE NUITS Dr. Wine, Domaine David Duband, this paired very well with the slow cooked beef. Our server Romane was so lovely and very helpful and we enjoyed talking with her throughout the evening. She asked why we were in Dijon and we told her we were on our honeymoon driving around France. Shortly after asking for our bill, 2 complimentary glasses of Cremant de Bourgogne arrived with congratulations from the front of house, I cannot remember his name. I must say, we only mentioned our wedding at the end of our visit just before asking for the bill and so I have no doubt that the service and the food is this good all the time and no special measures were in place for us.

Dr Wine is an example of great food, great wine and great service. We enjoyed the wine so much that we purchased 2 bottles the next day. We will go out of our way next time we are near just to...
