We had high hopes for Le Café in Saint-Tropez, expecting a memorable culinary experience that matched the prestige and charm of its location. Unfortunately, what we received was an overpriced and underwhelming meal that left us feeling both disappointed and taken advantage of.

To begin with, the food was far below what one would expect from a place that carries itself with such apparent sophistication. We ordered the petites sardines, anticipating a fresh, artfully prepared dish. Instead, we were served what was clearly tinned sardines (not mentioned by the menu, we were expecting fried sardines or something of this sort) accompanied by two unfortunate slices of bread and a sad stick of butter. That this meager plate came with a 22€ price tag felt almost like a bad joke.

Our second dish, the Carpaccio de Courgettes, was equally unimpressive, if not more so. There was virtually no food on the plate, with more garnish than substance. Certainly not even half a zucchini, let alone something satisfying. It felt more like an aesthetic exercise than an actual dish meant to be eaten.

As for the service, while the staff were polite, we still felt somewhat overlooked. There was an overall sense of detachment that did nothing to elevate the experience. For a restaurant that charges such premium prices, a basic level of attentiveness should be a given.

In short, Le Café trades on its location and reputation, but offers little in return. The food lacks freshness, creativity, and portion value, and the experience does not justify the exorbitant prices. Saint-Tropez has many wonderful dining options. This is clearly not one of them. We left feeling dissatisfied.

My party of six had a 13:30 reservation at Le Cafe restaurant on May 21, and we arrived on time. We were seated promptly, and our order was taken about ten minutes later. However, by 14:40, no food had been served. When we asked our waiter, Vince, for an update, he told us it was busy and that we should expect our food in another 10–15 minutes.

I asked to speak with the manager, but no one came to our table. I eventually found the manager at the bar and explained our concerns. She apologized and again said the restaurant was busy, but could not explain why surrounding tables were receiving their food before us.

Frankly, we were left with the impression that our waiter was intentionally neglecting our table. If I didn’t know any better I think our waiter disliked Americans even though we saved his grandpa parents from the Nazis. After more than an hour of waiting with no food and no meaningful resolution, we decided to leave.

I hope the management at Le Cafe take this feedback seriously. No customer should be made to feel ignored or compelled to escalate a matter to management without a timely response. I trust steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen to others.

Sincerely,

R. Nicholas...

Rude staff, terrible service!

I am extremely disappointed with the treatment we received from the staff at the venue. We had made a booking for a bachelorette party, looking forward to a memorable evening. However, just 1 hour and 20 minutes into our reservation, we were abruptly asked to vacate our table to accommodate another customer. This unexpected interruption prevented us from ordering more drinks or enjoying desserts. It felt like we were being discriminated against based on our consumption, even though we were not given the opportunity to continue ordering.

This experience left a bitter taste in our mouths and truly ruined what was meant to be a special occasion. As a group, we were deeply disheartened by the lack of consideration and respect shown to us as paying customers. We had hoped for a fun-filled celebration, but instead, we were left feeling frustrated and mistreated.

It is my sincere hope that management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issues we encountered. No customer should be made to feel unwelcome or dismissed after making a reservation and choosing their establishment for a...

Le Café is a Saint-Tropez staple—and for all the right reasons. From the moment you're seated, the service sparkles with attentive charm, setting the tone for a truly memorable meal. The shredded crab with green apples is a refreshing, refined start, and the oysters? Quite possibly the best on the Riviera. The blue lobster pasta is indulgence on a plate, but it's the pavlova dessert that steals the show—airy, artful, unforgettable! Truly! Add in their signature cocktail L’Envie (worthy of its name), and you have a dining experience that’s effortlessly elegant, yet deeply, deeply satisfying. A must-visit!!!!

My experience at Le Cafe in St. Tropez was an absolute disaster. The service was incredibly rude, the live music was terrible, and the ambiance was filled with people going through a midlife crisis. The staff seemed overwhelmed and incapable of handling the simplest requests. If there was one saving grace, it would be the food, but even that was the only remotely decent aspect. The only positive note was the decent interior decor, but that alone couldn't make up for the rest of the dreadful experience. Rating: 0 out of 5 stars! Avoid this place at all costs.
