La Salama, Saint-Tropez: Couscous, Chaos & Costume Porn
La Salama isn’t a restaurant - it’s a rave with an upset tummy and a side of attitude.
Somewhere between the strobe lights, pounding house beats, and grown adults in vaguely erotic bird costumes, the food gave up entirely. If they put even half as much effort into seasoning the dishes as they do flicking the lights to the beat of the music, we’d be in a much better place.
Instead, we got a disorienting dinner-theater performance that felt like a niche animal costume porn film 🍆🎥 - and dinner was entirely optional.
Let’s talk cuisine:
• For the cost of a flight to Morocco, you get a spoonful of couscous, three chickpeas, and a sad excuse for a tagine - served with the same warmth as the foot🦶models guarding the front door. • It’s all smoke (literally, from the fog machine) and no spice.
The staff? Polyester-clad gatekeepers who behave like you’re trying to crash a VIP room at Tomorrowland. You’re not. You just want some damn food.
La Salama’s Priorities:
Lighting cues Costume changes Loud remixes Vibes flavor Food (meh) Hospitality (nonexistent)
Verdict: All theatrics 🎭, no taste. Want real Moroccan food? Book a flight. Want dinner? Go elsewhere. Want to get gaslit by a bowl of couscous while a man in a sequin cape spins in place under flickering lights? Congratulations 🎉 -...
Read moreBeautiful restaurant and ambiance. Exceptional service and treatment of customers. Great food and drinks. Didn't realize my drink would come in a while popcorn cup which was a fun surprise.
Tuna tartare - delicious, Get it. Love the pine nuts and sweeter taste Tajin poulet - a little on the saltier side but yummy, super tender and flavorful La Mourouzia - wow so good. It's savory and sweet. The land is cooked to perfection. Get it. Couscous - light fluffy Rice pudding - was alright. Lacked depth in flavor, and sweetness even though they added the orange bits in it. The presentation was beautiful but honestly I wanted the other desserts and they were too big of portions.
Drinks were wonderful Saint-Germain-de-Provence - was stunning and beautiful. Was tasty but found it a little to acidic for my stomach Popcorn drink (forgot the name)- such a fun presentation, and also very tasty. Was a sweet caramel undertone but a touch of salt. Mule - very good The tropezino - went down so easy. I would recommend. Our server said this was very sweet but was no where sweet compared to the popcorn drink. Get it.
I think what made this review 5 stars was the experience. The restaurant takes amazing care of it's patrons and the vibe...

I wasn’t sure what to expect. With so many “places to be” in Saint-Tropez, you often end up with loud music, late food, and service that forgot you exist. But Salama was a real surprise. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was going to enjoy myself.
The atmosphere is warm. The setting is beautiful. The music hits the right note and even if a bit too loud to my taste, you can still talk without shouting. Even with a massive table, we were twenty, the flow of service was impressive. Starters, mains, even drinks arrived without delay. The staff was smiling, efficient, and on it.
The food was very good. Every dish we had was full of flavor, nicely presented, and actually generous. Not overly fancy. Not lazy either. Just really well done. With a big group, quality often suffers. Not here. Timing was right. Plates were hot. People were happy.
It is rare in Saint-Tropez to find a place that balances food, energy, and service so well. Salama does. It delivers. Cool place. Cool people. Cool food. I...
