CIRO — Restaurant in Grasse

Got off train from a busy day. Used I-map to get restaurants nearby. This came up with a 4.5 star rating from trip advisor. Headed to the restaurant but when we got there was empty at 6:30/7:00. We sat down and ordered and my wife pointed out the reviews were from years ago. There were those nasty bar flies everywhere. While the one server and one bartender were nice, the food was less than marginal, high priced and just totally pathetic in general. The kitchen staff were eating straight from the pans they made our food from. Then when the check came they couldn’t present it because they said their system was down. We paid euros in place of card as we were suspect of this place. Only one other table came as of 8pm. Walked around the corner and other restaurants were busy. How is this place surviving? Must be overflow from all the festivals and other restaurants over booked. But do not recommend regardless of situation. Go get a burger from Steak and Shake around the corner. You’ll be better off. We had a family dinner at Ciro few days ago. As we were passing by different other restaurants on our way to Ciro we’ve had some doubts about our choice for the dinner. Fortunately all doubts have vanished as we’ve got our starters. The food was delicious and waiters were attentive. Our excitement grew as we got to the main course. Pasta (we were 4 adults and we’ve ordered different types of pasta) was amazing - the way it should be. Pizza was perfect. As the owners has explained us later (by the way, they speak Russian too), the chief cook is from Italy and you could be sure it’s not an ordinary one. In terms of desserts we’ve enjoyed tiramissu. The surprise started with the wrong number on google that was connected to the owners mobile!! Food was below average and was very late, and when we asked the waiter he was like “it is not my problem, im mot cooking it”!
