Mixed. Wanted to love this place that is trying so hard to make coffee a special experience. Smell is great, coffee good. The ambiance is nice—cool on a hot day in Cannes (surprising how cool it was because their coffee roasting machine was running toward the back!). Friendly staff. I ordered the Cafe le Excellance as a filtered pour over, which was delivered to table with the gooseneck kettle for me to finish the pour. I like that because they have an opportunity to educate visitors in the pour over technique. It’s fun too. However, it wasn’t delivered with a scale, so the ratio of water to ground beans was entirely a guess. (Like in any recipe, ratio is important.) The grind was too fine, closer to the granularity of an espresso than to that of a pour over. Despite this the flavor was actually enjoyable—but because of the grind and ratio issues, the taste notes were lost in a single, concentrated note.
Major critique is the free wifi. Itineraire contracted with a shady service called Moodiate WiFi which manages in-store wifi while promising shop owners access to customer data and the ability to SMS message us and email us with advertising. The Moodiate WiFi terms of service promise to monitor our browsing history, analyse data on our devices, and share this data (with who?!?). To access wifi, one must give date-of-birth, name, a phone number, and an email, then confirm the email and only later can we opt out of part of this advertising, by signing into this Moodiate WiFi’s service and hunting down the opt out options. Or... one can simply sign in by choosing Facebook. But that sign in doesn’t follow Facebook’s private sign in method. Instead Facebook sign in is within Moodiate WiFi’s iframe (an insecure shell that if configured properly, can collect your Facebook username and password as you type them). You’ll notice Facebook’s buttons and CSS don’t render properly because they aren’t rendered within Facebook’s controlled environment. You’ll also notice that unlike a proper sign in, your auto-complete and auto-fill in don’t function because the actual URL (hidden from a customer) is not Facebook’s. Like other cafes who have to offer wifi to compete, Itineraire should switch to an above-the-board service or just buy a well-reviewed wifi router with...
Read moreWe just discovered this café by accident, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. The place is very nice, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The coffee drinks are absolutely delicious, with a variety of options including Frappuccinos, regular cappuccinos, and different teas. Each drink was flavorful and aromatic, making it a treat for the senses.
The breakfast options were phenomenal, adding to the overall experience. The sitting area outside was quite hot, but the location of the café is fantastic, making it a pleasant spot to relax. The staff was very friendly and polite, enhancing the welcoming ambiance.
The drinks we tried – two different teas, orange juice, a Frappuccino, and a regular cappuccino – were all excellent. If you're looking for a beautiful place to sit, relax, and enjoy delicious beverages, this café is highly recommended. I will definitely come back next time we...
Read moreSo, we went to the restaurant at 5 p.m. and it wasn't busy; 10 minutes later, we were even alone. I ordered an iced tea and a dessert called Crazy Crunch. They ran out of dessert, so I ordered an "all chocolate" muffin instead. I got the one in the picture, with just a bit of chocolate. It wasn't a chocolate muffin, but it was okay, but the ice tea tasted like water, as you can see from the photo. They didn't really respond when I asked them about it, and I didn't get my money back either, if I hadn't asked(the muffin would have cost less than the other dessert). The service was also rather rude. A friend of mine had to wait for 20min for a bagel, and they hadn't any...
