La Potinière — Restaurant in Grasse

Friendliest waiter and staff we’ve had thus far in France. Menu is in French without translation but easy enough to interpret as a nonfluent travel only French speaker. My daughter had one of the best poke bowls she’s ever had, and my husband and I shared a charcuterie and fromage board which was giant and delicious. Lots of salads being served around us, and all looked yummy He had an aromatic local beer, and I had a lovely glass of white wine. Lots of local business men in for lunch which seemed like a good sign. Don’t let the beautiful interior intimidate you! It was a welcome respite...

Very disappointing. Had a completely over-the-hill, badly oxidised wine pushed on us, and then were knowingly over-charged on the bill with a much more expensive wine substituted on to it. The alarm bells should have sounded when the waiter who I believe may have been the owner questioned whether I even wanted an itemised bill. A shame because the food was actually very good - but the both the hard-sell wine and the over-charged bill left a very sour taste...

Food was delicious and the ambiance was warm and friendly. Negatives: The temperature in the restaurant was hotter than balls, the wine was mediocre and overpriced and the waitress was unpleasant. She checked on us about every 30 minutes and a simple meal took almost 3 hours. The bill was wrong and we finally walked out sweaty and irritated. Could have been a good experience with much better service and turning the temp down from "hell" to "even remotely...
