I was super excited to come here with my friends on a girls trip, and we had booked the reservation weeks in advance for the 4 of us and had known there was a 95 euro minimum spend per person including food and drink per their own advertising and were prepared to spend that (380 euro total).
Once we arrived, we ordered three appetizers, a main, and a dessert with our waiter being very frustrated that we were not ordering enough dinner and food for his liking to which we had to repeatedly explain that we wanted to order lots of drinks and less food and only wanted to reach the minimum spend. We also ordered seven cocktails before being told that aggressively we were still 200 euros under our minimum spend which we were very confused about as we had already spent a decent amount of money. We then ordered a few more cocktails, lots of shots, soda, and water with our waiter finally telling us we had reached our minimum spend.
When he came back with the check, it was 480 euros rather than 380. We were very confused as we had told him from the start that we only wanted to reach our minimum spend and he had continued to tell us the entire night that we needed to keep spending to reach the minimum. His response was that we had booked the reservation for 5 rather than 4, so our minimum would be closer to 480 euros which was simply not true, and I was forced to pull up my reservation on my phone and all the subsequent emails related to it. He then grabbed my phone and wanted to look himself and continued to say his system said we were 5 despite us never having had more than the 4 of us with us the whole night. I would understand if there had been a glitch in the system, but one of my friends also saw on his ipad that his booking system and information also said we were 4 and had always been 4, meaning that he blatantly had lied and known all along we were 4 and that our minimum spend was 380 euros and had taken advantage of the situation and told us to spend more past what he had known we wanted to spend.
We told him we would not pay the 480 euros as we had ordered much less and he had kept coming back telling us that we needed to order more to meet the minimum, and he got incredibly aggressive and began gesturing excessively in all of our faces. Mind you, we are all 20 year old girls and this was a grown man getting very heated with us over being caught in his own lies and manipulation. When things did start to get heated, my friends asked to speak to the manager to which he replied rather condescendingly, "Hi, I am the manager, what can I do for you" and then continued to treat us poorly. After about a 15 minute heated debate, my friends threatened to tell the internet and go on social media about their treatment towards us which led him to finally cave and only charge us the 380. We left promptly after as the entire situation had made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and we did not want to be there any longer which he also had many comments about.
It is really rather sad that we had such a bad service experience as all the other waiters seemed very nice and the vibe of the place was wonderful. Our experience with this "manager" honestly completely ruined our night. The manager also seems to have a preference for males as if you look at the one star reviews for this place, they are almost all written by women who had equally horrible and exploitative experiences with the same manager. Some of his own employees who are the dancers on the pianos also looked to be very uncomfortable with the way many of the older men in the club were trying to touch them (groping them, etc) and he never once stood up for them despite them often looking towards him for help.
I honestly cannot wait to see what the manager replies to this as his replies to the other one star reviews just further emphasize his own rudeness and malicious nature. I can't wait to hear about how ugly the four of us are, how we should have gone to McDo's (the food would have been much better by the way), and how we were the...
Read moreBefore going to Le Speakeasy, we called to ask for informations such as dress code and entrance fee. What they told us in the call was that we must be elegant but that it would be okay if we had sneakers on. They said no there was entrance fee, we pay what we order. But as we arrive to the location the security looked as up and down judging as by our looks and proceeded to call his manager who was ignoring us. The manager by his facial expression clearly didn't want to let us in checking us again by looking at us from bottom up. He invented every excuse to not let us in, telling us that there was an entrance fee of 2000€. I tried telling him that we called earlier that day but then told us they were already full. Well, they were not full at all because just as he told us that we cannot enter, they let in the group of people behind us without fee and honestly not even elegant at all. We don't understand why tell us on the phone that we would have no problem with reservation and dressing, when what you needed was for us to not be asians. What I why experienced with my friends was just horrible. The real reason we weren't allowed to enter is because they are racist people. Their faces and the way they looked at us was like a big sign of "No asian people allowed/accepted" or "if you're not french or european in general you cannot enter". I hope nobody gets treated like we did. Nobody deserves to be in such situations. I also read some other reviews on Speakeasy and as you can quickly notice that not everybody is accepted for stupid motives and owner even replies with even more rude attitude and trying once again to lie like "you were a big group", "you didn't look like you have money to spend". Can't believe things like this...
