If you miss every restaurant in cassis but one make sure that this is the restaurant you go to. This restaurant gave me the best meal I've had in France throughout an entire 2 week trip where we ate out every night and it came from this tiny hole in the wall where you eat in the alley. The calamari was in small tiny pieces with this amazing garlic seasoning that was to die for, my sister had a very good goat cheese salad to start. I had the duck which was to die for and is a good contender for the best duck I have ever had. I had some of the ravioli of the day, Alfredo with artichokes, from my sister and the spaghetti with prawns and again I could not get enough of the stuff. It is good to mention that our party also tried the tuna with raving reviews and I saw a rigatoni with meat sauce on another table that looked amazing I just didn't get a chance to try them. The wait staff was extremely good and they constantly refilled our ice and water because I'm sure they knew we were American and love the stuff which was "refreshing" to say the least since in my experience they tend to be very stingy with ice in Europe. Lastly I had the creme brulee off of the gourmet menu and again It was the best creme brulee I had in France and I practically order it everywhere. This place is very hard working and doesn't skip out on quality whatsoever. Again if you are in cassis or hell if you are even in the area I insist that you...
Read moreLooking for fusion food in Cassis 🇫🇷, near Marseille❓ A while ago, I visited a small fusion restaurant with a couple of friends. TBH, I wouldn't have chosen this kind of place because I'm not a big fan of fusion cuisine. 🤷 Are you? Call me old school, but when I go to a restaurant, I kind of like to know upfront what type of cuisine I'm gonna eat. Plus, even though I love trying new things, I also like eating things the way they're supposed to be eaten. Pineapple 🍍 on a pizza 🍕: not for me. 🤚 Mango 🥭 in sushi 🍣: not for me. 🤚 Etc. So my friends chose that restaurant called La Défonce. It has a French name, a French look but the dishes are a mix of many types of cuisine. We shared a pork tonkatsu 🐖 then I had a bowl of noodles 🍜 with tuna 🐟 and I also could try the tuna tartare. Everything was very good and the ingredients were obviously very fresh. 👍 Now the quantities of high value ingredients, like tuna in my bowl of noodles, were quite limited for what we paid: more than €30 each for 4 dishes and 1 dessert to share, drinks appart. 🫤 That's the issue in places like Cassis: eating out is very expensive. 😔 The place is small and we enjoyed being able to talk to the staff (nice and efficient) and guests at other tables. We really had a good time. 👍

Read moreThe food and ambiance was good, but honestly, based on the reviews I really expected more which is why I gave a 3. We showed up late in the day (9:30pm) so in fairness that probably hampered the experience, but a lot of the dishes they were out of. The goat cheese salad was delicious but ... it’s a goat cheese salad. The tuna was also good, but not anything memorable. The one thing I was hoping for was the wine list. There were only a few wines, and Bodin was the local representative, and I was hoping for a little more local flavour... so I was disappointed. Cassis is in an amazing wine region and there is so much to try.... was just hoping for more. The staff are friendly and attentive, but as I mentioned, overall a “meh”! It might have been the expectations that...
