My husband and I came here on a whim because it was pouring outside, it was our last night in Paris, and we were hoping to have an early dinner. We arrived promptly at seven and were seated right away. The space is small but cozy and very inviting and the owner/chef (at least I think he was) basically runs a one-man show. He manned the bar, checked in on the kitchen, and served the tables. I had the goat cheese with honey for an appetizer and that was excellent t. At some point, the taste of the cheese was a bit more overwhelming that I anticipated but that was because I didn’t eat it with the bread like I was supposed to. I ordered the duck confit and my husband had the beef tenderloin (medium). The duck was so tender and juicy - I was amazed. Ive ordered duck confit several times during my stay in Paris and this was -without hyperbole - the BEST duck confit I’ve had in the city. My husband said the same about his steak. The crust was cooked to perfection and the inside remained juicy and tender. Also, the recommended wine for my duck really helped enhance its flavor. I’m so glad we found this place but kind of bummed we discovered it at the end of our trip. In any case, I highly recommend this place. If you enjoy delicious food at a reasonable price paired with excellent service and a welcoming environment then you should definitely check...
Read moreI went for dinner with a friend about a week ago. The atmosphere was very nice, and I guess it's usually even nicer, as there was a big group of people that could be slightly annoying at times. The food is not bad, and I think they're certainly trying. Having said that I was slightly disappointed with what I had for starters and pudding, and the main was a safe bet: confit du canard. I had mushrooms to start with, with some vinegar sauce, and they were way too vinegary. The duck was very nice, as it should indeed. For pudding I had crumble of pear and apple, and the fruits were not cooked enough, I think. I also think that crumble goes better with custard than with vanilla ice-cream, but that's secondary. The main thing was the crumble itself was not great. My friend had ravioli to start with, from a French region near Valence, and those were very nice and tasty. Then he had beef (don't know which bit), more bleu than saignant. And he went for the enourmous profiterole for pudding which was quite big indeed. We shared a bit, and while the chocolate sauce was very nice, the pastry was just ok. We had some nice wine, expensive as other customers have mentioned. So as much as I liked the waiter (maybe owner or manager), I don't think I'll be going back any time soon at over 100 euros for...
Read moreWhat a delightful place! My review, I must admit was flavored by the fact that we are staying in Paris only 1/2 block away, but this was the best overall meal we have had so far while in France for ten days (including in the mix a Michelin starred restaurant in Tours). What made it good was the lovely neighborhood feel, the quiet side street location, a waiter who managed all the tables with ease and who found us a seat at 9PM despite the lack of reservation, and of course, the food.... We ate a wonderful pate de fois gras appetizer which was delightful in its texture and inclusion of smoked duck, a cucumber gazpacho (perhaps a bit heavier than I would have liked), roasted bone marrow, and steak tartare (a untraditional simple preparation with basil and olive oil only but with excellent "chunky" beef). Desert was a surprise. Large portions; we saw but did not eat the "profiterole enorme", which was indeed enormous, but delighted in the cafe gourmand, which was truly creative and enough for three, though only came with one espresso! Price for full dinner for three with a bottle of wine and an additional glass and two bottles of mineral water:...
