Au Petit Duc — Restaurant in Paris

After 45 minutes of walking around looking for a restaurant to have our last dinner at, we finally gave up and ate here. We found a table quickly, and they had some options on the menu that looked appealing.

My husband tried to order 3 times before he found a dish they weren't sold out of (no risotto for him), and I had a simple croque madame - the worst I have had in Paris (but still edible). My mousse au chocolat was the redeeming aspect to the meal. The service was slow, but adequate. The problem was, inside or outside, it was like sitting in a smoke pit. We sat inside, but the door between inside and out was open, and everything smelled like smoke. We finally got up and left because it was getting hard to breathe. Some French restaurants have done a better job than others of protecting a customers right to fresh air. This wasn't one of them. I definitly wouldn't recommend it, and definitly...

If I could give this place a 0 I would. Place was nearly packed and they only had one waiter. When the waiter finally came, we first ordered water while we looked at the menu and gave him time to walk to the other people. Waited for 20 minutes (with no water) until he finally came back to get our order. Then he finally came back; as we were ordering, one of us got stuck on how to say "medium well" in French we did not even have time to help our friend before the waiter said something in broken english and then left! We tried to be patient because he was the only one that was serving the restaurant. Waited 20 more minutes... all the while he would come out, make eye contact with us and then walk the other way; so we left! We barely walked 2 feet before he came to clear the glasses (for the water the never came)! Don't waste your time with this sorry excuse for...

Wasn’t sure about the place but decided to go in as the reviews were mixed. There were two problems. One was the waiter who hardly said a word and seemed miserable. Almost to the point where you felt a bit uncomfortable. The order was taken fairly quickly and the food arrived within good time. The quality wasn’t the best but passable. The second was the fact that people were smoking outside and the smoke could be smelt when we were eating. It seemed to have the feel of an old fashioned bar and wouldn’t recommend eating there unless you like miserable waiters and you smoke. I think the bare minimum of hello, thanks and goodbye should...
