Terrible place. I went this afternoon at around 1 pm on March 23, 2022 and found a seat with ease. It was very busy and I asked the waitress if she was the only one waiting, trying to be compassionate in what I thought was a difficult situation, but she must have took it or me a foreigner who doesn't have the best grasp of French as an insult.
My food came, but my drinks didn't come. I was quite thirsty and it's terrible service to have food without drinks. I finally got some cidre, but I asked four times for water before she brought me any. She kept cleaning tables in front of me and refusing to serve me. She didn't "forget" the water, she was somehow offended or just being nasty. I say this because there was no one else there at the time (the crowd that had been there earlier had left), so she was NOT too busy to bring it.
A little while later a French woman and her daughter sat next to me and ordered. She immediately brought them their drinks, water and cidre all at once, a minute after they ordered.
You can fire both of the women working there today with my pleasure. She was small and fat with grey skin black straight hair and a mole. Her counterpart was Asian with died hair. I will never set foot in this establishment again.
The small waitress looked down and smiled and laughed when I paid. I said nothing because I knew the mean behavior was purposeful. It was like being in the presence of a couple of those Orangutans who spend most of their days being mean to other Orangutans.
I guess you wanted to scream about your lack of power and how tiny your life was. Hope...
Read moreI've wanted to visit the Rue des Martyrs for a long time after reading The Only Street in Paris. For me it became synonymous with visiting Paris and le tour Eiffel. La Petite Bretonne is on the edge of the middle of it and great to watch the street from. Sitting with a crêpe and glass of wine on the sidewalk has that stereotypical French feel. The wait staff is very friendly. They spoke French with me and asked for clarification in French rather than switching to English like some would. The crepes were great and there was no rush to leave.
However, once we were preparing to leave the oldest in our trio decided he couldn't walk further and we needed a taxi. The wait staff was happy to call one for us. When they didnt arrive within a designated time, they called again and brought us all water while we waited (which, for Europe water is usually paid for, not free- so it was a big deal). They found an English speaking waiter when they were unsure my French would suffice but they continued in French when I clarified that I could understand them. The taxi finally came and we were on our way.
Nice stop on the Rue des Martyrs, good crepes and wine, and...
Read moreSave yourself the aggravation and go directly to Ti Jos around the corner on rue Delambre. Cœur de breizh is tourist oriented and far from authentic. We ordered the house cidre but what we received was a strange flavored sort of cidre - we have had the traditional cidre many times and this beverage wasn’t it. When we told our young waiter that the cidre seemed off, he insisted that ‘No, it’s traditional Bretonne cidre’. He refused to address our concern. The savory crêpes seemed more American than Bretonne - very soft and heavily laden with cheese. We waited over 30 minutes after ordering our dessert crêpes - I think the server forgot to put our order in but he didn’t admit to that. The crêpe was covered in multiple toppings, including creme that they said was Chantilly but it was not. It was disappointing and not worth the time or money. We have had such wonderful experiences elsewhere - this does not compare sadly. My son says to beware the business that claims to be the best or ‘authentic’. Let the...
