This boulangerie is absolutely amazing. When recently travelling to Paris with a friend of mine, we found this place. We adore everything culinary in experiences - and sent from heaven was this little pop-up in the Galeries Lafayette Gourmet - Zana babka. I just now realized it was a pop-up contemporarily hangin out in the the Lafayette, when recommending it to a friend visiting the city soon, but now I have the right address to share :) When standing in line, drooling at the sight of all the baked goods, we finally decided on trying the Babka chocolate noisette (chocolate hazelnut) and the pistachio. It blew us away (!!) and left our tastebuds tingeling and already begging for just another bite! This resulted in (of course) another visit, as the za'atar hallah also had left a mark in our rather food-obsessed minds, since first visiting the bakery. The soft bread with the beautiful spices instantly became a favourite as well! The personnel were all so very kind and friendly, so nothing but kind words to share about this incredible bakery.    Read moreTo state that the babka sold at Babka Zana is delicious is an understatement. Instead, Babka Zana sold me a memory. Their babka transported me back to my grandmother's kitchen in Connecticut and the unmistakable and intoxicating aroma of a cinnamon babka straight from the oven. Without exaggeration, the first taste warmed my heart and made my taste buds dance with joy. I recalling my grandfather sitting next to me, smiling, and jokingly commenting that the reason he married my grandmother was because of her babka.
Thank you Babka Zana. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and for the sensory memory of my dearly departed grandmother. Thank you for preparing a babka that is hands down the best babka I have tasted in...
Read moreSorry, I wanted to like and support you, but it doesn't live up to what I first experienced. When this place first opened, despite what immediately felt overpriced to me (even though I live in Paris and used to pricing here) I took a chance and tried several varieties, one after the next were impressive I returned a few more times. Then I tried one of the featured ones of the month entirely disappointing texture and flavor. After almost a year, I passed again and decided to give it another chance, still felt it was expensive (especially at almost 6 euros for the monthly featured), and bought both a classic one and the monthly one, and both were mediocre, and lacked the textural complexity of what I first tried in...
