During my trip to Paris I found the locals quite friendly, except at this restaurant, the owner truly live up to the general belief that Parisians are rude and unfriendly. It was such a disappointment, as the reviews were quite good. We only had coffee (as we were not offered a menu) and on payment we wanted to pay by card as we run out of cash, the waiter said that we have to spend a min of 10 euros to pay by card (our bill was 7.50), which was fine by us, but then the owner who overheard our conversation with the waiter came up to us, extremely rude, took my Dad by the shoulders, shoved him to the door and said look at the sign outside that says they only take cash and refused our card payment even if we were willing to pay the min 10 euros. 1. We dont speak or read French; 2. We entered from the other side of the sign so even if we could read it, we did not see it... I don't care how wonderful the food can be at any restaurant, basic manners and decency is still part of...
Read moreThis turned out to be a wonderful dining experience, despite a slightly rocky start. On arrival, the service felt slow and inattentive, which was surprising given the small number of guests present. Thankfully, once our orders were placed, the food and drinks arrived quickly. It was a welcome relief after a long day of touring the city.
I ordered the grilled salmon, which was cooked to perfection: moist, flavourful, and beautifully presented. Even my husband, who rarely enjoys seafood, was impressed enough to say, “Wow.” His schnitzel was equally impressive—crispy, tender, and full of flavour. He enjoyed it so much that he mentioned he would happily order it again on a future visit.
The combination of well-prepared dishes and a relaxed, neighbourhood setting made our meal memorable. While the service could improve in attentiveness at the start, the quality of the food more than made up for it. We would certainly look forward to returning if we stay in...
Read moreupdated review after my 4th visit in 2 years (I've dined here almost every visit I've made to Paris):
6/5 – This place is a hidden gem that deserves a spotlight.
I can’t help recommending this restaurant to everyone I know. Family owned and operated, the warmth here is real—not just in the service, but in the food.
They’re genuinely accommodating, the service is consistently excellent, and the kitchen turns out some of the most satisfying food I’ve had in Paris. Hungarian classics with French technique—deep flavors, perfect portions, and always made with care.
The Goulache Porkolt with nokedli is a standout—comfort food at its finest.
The cocktails are clever and well-executed (try the Sissi Impératrice if you like a sweeter cocktail).
This isn’t a flashy tourist trap—it’s a place that values hospitality, tradition, and doing things properly. If I could rate it higher than five...
