Café Concorde — Restaurant in Paris

Worst meal we had ever in any of our travels – avoid this place, terrible food and service

I really don’t like writing negative reviews, in this case, it is warranted and want to warn others not to spend your time or money here. We are experienced travellers enjoying many countries and the culture/cuisine that they offer --- this restaurant does a huge disservice to Paris and France.

Set near the National Assembly, one block from the Seine, one would expect good things but the café did not deliver. Simple, café ambiance inside and out. Menu had simple offerings, salads, sandwiches, some hot plates, pizza. Pictures from other reviews show food that should be tasty – even the visual appeal of what was served to us looks good in pictures. Sadly, the flavors were simply awful. So, how could they mess this up? Well they did mess it up and the servers did not seem to care.

We had starters, and salads. The Onion Soup was below average, overly salty. The Calamari were obviously from frozen, pre-battered rings. Mostly batter which was greasy. The Asian chili sauce tasted pre-bottled.

The Goat Cheese Salad was described to be a bed of crisp greens with a vinaigrette and crumbled cheese. Instead was a limp bed of spring tossed in what tasted like a simple, neutral canola oil with no acid component at all, no vinegar, no lemon. Tasteless. The cheese came a spread on crostini, baked and browned, one quartered hard-boiled egg. The Thai Beef salad was equally disappointing. The beef was thin slices of cooked steak tossed in a sauce or seasoning that did not have any hint of ginger, soy, fish sauce, spicy chillies expected in Thai flavoring. The same bed of oily tasteless greens made the base. Both salads were so unpleasant we could not finish them.

Service was very low and slow. The Maitre’d seated us and started by saying they were out of pizza, then asking our drink selection. We had a glass of a house red that was average. After we placed our order, we never saw him again. A waiter brought our starters and then we had to flag him down to place our entrée orders. At the end we commented on the disappointing salads but were only offered a simple “Sorry’ but no offer of other food or compensation.

After eating here, we both had major indigestion. Please find a different location...

I have been to Paris many times and ate at a lot of places but man this one was horrible. I started off with the so called "steak" with egg and fries on the side. What they brought out was a warm burger patty with an egg and cold fries. I told the waiter that this isn't a steak and you can't name it that on the menu and they said that that's what they call it here and I can confidently disagree with that. The waiter didn't insist on ordering a different menu giving me a dirty look or even offer to take the dish back seeing that I was not happy with it but at least I got new fries that weren't cold. Nevertheless charging 26€ for a warmed up burger patty and fries is insane. When asking for extra napkins the waiter would only bring out a singular one and leave. Waiting for the bill was a very long wait when the restaurant was not busy at all. Definitely will stay away for...

We had the worst experience at cafe concorde… not only are the prices ridiculously high, but the service was slow (we waited 15min to order when the place was mostly empty), and the glasses came a little dirty 🤢 I had to use the staff bathroom because the light didn’t work in the customer one, and realized that employees do not even have any soap to wash their hands after using it.
