I was invited to have breakfast by a friend who was staying at the hotel a week ago. Naturally I was excited and had great expectations as I have known the beauty and the reputation of the hotel. However from the moment we sat down, we knew we weren't going to have what we anticipated. We had ordered American breakfast at 89.00€ p/p. There was a meager looking bread basket with just small 3 baguette pcs which were very hard and then they came around to make us choose 1 croissant or pain au chocolate. Then we ordered coffee. It was so bad. I don't ever remember having such bad cappuccino in 7 yrs living Paris. My friend who ordered cafe au lait /creme to which they brought out filtered coffee with cold milk on the side. I said that's not how the café creme is served? And that I have never seen it served like that? They seemed genuinely confused! My friend ordered crêpes with butter and sugar. It looked like store bought folded in quarter and were served so.. can't even explain...So plain without any butter on the side nor sugar sprinkled on the top, looked careless. The yogurt served was also not a good quality. I know this because I also work in a hotel (4 star) and we serve the same type. My hotel breakfast would have been much much better at 20€. There was NOTHING NOTHING at all luxurious about this breakfast and if you were to spend 89€ for 2 pp in any Parisian cafe , I guarantee you could have it better, so much better. I could have complain bitterly but I couldn't because i didn't want to make my friend feel any worse as she also had a terrible experience the night before with dinner at the hotel who supposedly have Michelin star!!!
It was a huge contrast however when we had breakfast at Cheval Blanc the next day. (She changed the hotel and i know she will never go back to LM )The breakfast was even less expensive at Cheva Blanc but I mean, you can not even compare the quality, the beauty, the luxuriousness. Beautiful basket of bread pastires, the yogurt, cereal, the main dish amd the juice. They even have green juice! I would go back there just to have breakfast but it's only available to clients who stay at the hotel. So do not go to Le Meurice for anything but to take pictures of the building. Which is beautiful and the room was nice too but I would steer away from eating there. Highway robbery:( Very very...
Read moreWe stayed for one night and company booked it for us during Paris Fashion Week so hotel was busy. We had three attempts to check in and eventually gave up, hit the town and came back at 6.30 pm as we were fed up hearing that room was not ready after guaranteed 3 pm. Yet when we asked for late checkout next morning - they just offered 30 min. So it can only work one way… they will shorten your stay at check in but won’t extend your checkout.||The hotel main areas are grand but rooms are more of an imitation furniture vibe and in my view not worth steep price point. I would rather stay in Presidential Suite in four star hotel with all the space and extras than book double here as the rooms do not much up.||Yes bathroom is marble and there are two washing basins, there are some Sisley cosmetics to try which is handy but it just did not wow me. Beware - bathtub is really deep which could be problematic with people with mobility issues. Plus there were annoying bits like shower over bath which was flooding the bathroom and no sockets by the bedsite tables. It was nice but I value comfort of the room over grandeur of lobby.||Lady who showed us to the room asked if we need maid to unpack our suitcases which we politely declined but I thought that could save somebody some time and effort. They were also performing decent downturn service with moving slippers next to your bed and switching on the lamps.||It was quiet at night. You can open windows. Aircon works as well.||We were also invited for lunch there. The prices were very high and I would expect amazing food for that but it really was average, I had much better food in many other places in France, nowhere near this price point.||Breakfast choice was really limited and nothing to write home about. ||Overall lobby and restaurant areas are beautiful, with loads of history and character but it is just nice to look at. Actual experience is average. They really shoild do more to...
Read moreThere are so many hotels to choose from these days, it can make it difficult to choose. Le Meurice is a hotel where I would gladly stay again. And did. After many years (more than 20) we returned to Le Meurice. With many shops (expensive and inexpensive) and restaurants along the street where the hotel is located as well as having the Musee d’Orsay, Louvre and Tuileries (just to name a few) less than a five-minute walk away, the location is excellent. First, the hotel was beautiful and soothing. Staff was polite and helpful. When the room my mom and aunt were sharing started having major electrical problems, they upgraded them from a deluxe room to an amazing suite with two bathrooms. However, my deluxe room was in working order so no free upgrade for me :(. Just kidding. Although my room didn’t have a spectacular view (courtyard) the room was great. Plenty of room for storing luggage, two closets (one in hallway of entry and the other in the bedroom) and a second (interior) door that could be closed between the bedroom and hotel hallway for added privacy/quiet. Bathroom had two sinks and separate tub/shower. I can’t remember if I was able to control ac/heat (this is a huge deal breaker for me) but it couldn’t have been hot in the room because I definitely would’ve remembered. There was a beverage (coffee, tea, booze and others) and snack (not all of it is free) center located in the entry hallway. Coffee (drip), bread basket, yogurt with berries and waffle were very good. My sister and I also went down to dinner and the food was amazing! We had sea bream ceviche, steak and the French dessert. Delicious! Finally, the laundry service was very professional. Sent several pieces (some required regular washing/drying and others needed dry cleaning or other delicate methods) off and everything was returned in perfect...
