The café des banques was our location for a family meal before we went to a funeral at Père Lachaise. The food was great. We ordered à la carte. I had the tartare de boeuf and afterwards a café gourmand. Tje service was super friendly and quick. Highly recommendable!

Improviso stop for lunch after touring the cemetery. Delicious burger and poulet roti and nice server. Locals hanging out was a good sign for a pleasant meal. Clean bathrooms, too!

If I could give this brasserie no stars, I would, that's how terrible my experience was! As a diner from New Zealand, my wife and I have had typically very good experiences in Paris restaurants, but the waiter and service in this one should be avoided at all costs! He was rude and continued to mock us to the surrounding patrons because we asked to sit under the shelter to avoid the rain. Then he rudely took our order and muttered God knows what to the diners next to us, who then proceeded to laugh. When we asked for our cheque, he didn't bother & we had to leave the money and the premises for fear that I may as well have punched him in the face.

If you are a tourist and have been warned of French rudeness, this is the only place that was experienced, the espresso, hot chocolate and croissant were mediocre to top it off.

Please do yourself a favour and don't even bother...

(FR).

(EN): Very bad experience; mainly foreigners, stay out. I have just been in this "cafe" and the service was given in a very bad manners, and a hint of racism was very explicitly showed. I am Spanish, and it is not easy to live abroad, especially if "cafes" like this allow barmen and waiters to speak to clients like he did. It is a pity to find a wonderfull city like Paris, and to find such a stupid idiot people like this waiter... This kind of attitudes and bad service spoils all the good feelings... Again: It is a pity... Apart from this, I ask for a "bavette" and this meat was not good at all: I could hardly cut it... a bit "chewing gum"...
