A lot of giant hiccups in this famed establishment, which reflect poorly on the brand. I’ve been coming to this outlet for breakfast for the last three years, and both service and food quality has deteriorated significantly and I can assure you that I will not be back. They’ve opened outlets in singapore, London and st tropez, which I’ve been to recently and found the pastries to be severely underwhelming, I thought that heading to the original location would be different and the quality would be different. It was not the case
Pastries are served cold (they’re also smaller than what would you buy downstairs at the take out counter, if that matters to you.) They definitely would have tasted better and improved the experience should the pastries be warmed up (they could have been toasted, or kept in a warmer. No one is expecting them to be piping fresh from the oven with the turnover rate.) This is clearly a management problem. When I came in the past, the pastries were warm.
The service was lacklustre and everyone seemed uninterested. I’ve experienced better service at McDonald’s, which indicates that the staff are unhappy working for the brand, and it’s merely just a revolving door for students to idly pass their summer vacation and earn a quick buck.) They hand you the QR code menus and walk off, leaving you to read it for yourself with no explanation of what to choose and how many drinks you get (2.)
A 50 euro breakfast at this establishment is overreaching in my opinion. Breakfast at plaza athénée or the ritz (for approximately 80-100 euros) would be much more worth your time. Otherwise, a classic bistro for half the price of Cedric Grolet would probably serve you better overall.
However, there is ONE upside to the breakfast reservation , which is after you’re done with the breakfast, you can head downstairs to order croissants or whatever pastries there are and you won’t have to queue. They will also be cold, but at least you managed to...
Read moreThis shop is the definition of money can’t buy taste.
I’ll be honest, it’s honestly not worth it at all. It’s clearly just another influencer/social media hyped place. The pastries were honestly super bland and didn’t taste fresh at all. The so called iconic croissant, is subpar at best. You can find better, fresher and tastier for cheaper elsewhere, in more local and simple pastry shops and bakeries.
Let’s not even talk about the prices, prices are horrendously expensive, especially with the subpar quality of food you get. Again, you can find so much better for cheaper elsewhere.
Now regarding the shop itself, you obviously have to be in a long, frustrating line just to be served. While in line, you can get the bad news that the pastry you wanted is out of stock. The service itself is just like the food, it’s bad. Since they are only there for serve everyone quickly, they are almost rude and arrogant, it makes the already bad experience worst.
Stay away, there are way...
Read moreI recently pre-ordered a pack of five croissant beignets / donuts, each with different flavors: pistachio, chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, and coffee.
The service was efficient, and the staff were pleasant, so the pickup was quick and easy. The packaging was a simple paper box, which I appreciated for being biodegradable.
As for the donuts, they looked great but were underwhelming overall, especially since they felt cold. The chilly weather might have played a part, but they lacked the warmth I was hoping for. The cream fillings were nicely made with a delicate, light texture, but the flavors were too subtle. None of them stood out except for the hazelnut, which was the only one that had a distinct, recognizable taste. I was expecting a stronger flavor, but it didn’t quite deliver.
In retrospect, one donut would have been enough to get a sense of what they offer. Overall, they didn’t live up to the hype. They were enjoyable but not something I’d rush to...
