Cocoön Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Paris

Unexpected little bubble of cool discovered just around the corner from our hotel on a week in Paris, the greatest city in the world!

Everything here oozes the passion of the creative ambition behind the business and the drinks offer nothing either safe or predictable. They're bold and original and certainly worth exploring.

The Tagada is mind-blowingly good and leaves you wishing it could be served in a jug. We've tried bars across Paris and Nice and in our home territory of North Yorkshire (UK) hunting the perfect strawberry cocktail for my wife and this landed a huge hit straight to the top of the charts.

I felt I ought to try something more manly and took a deep dive into a Golden Pineapple - literally. The playful gentle spice steering the deep flavourful rum into wedded bliss with pineapple juice and, I'm sure, some secret voodoo potion which leaves you wanting more...

And then I spoiled all that masculinity by tasting the Tagada and very nearly ordering one...

If you're looking for low key, chilled mood and warm welcome and a beach bar vibe without the beach, you can't go wrong. Total departure from what the rest of the district seems to offer and this bravery is to our benefit.

As we were waiting for a 9:45PM reservation, we spied Cocoön a few blocks from the restaurant. The small lounge had just a few tables, with no bar to sit at. I expected nothing, tired of walking around on a cold night, and frustrated with GPS. I ordered a cocktail off the menu, knowing we had about 20 minutes to finish our drinks. The sympathetic bartender made me a Butter Nut, which turned out to be fantastic. With a few sips, and a smile from the bartender, my disposition changed. I was a happy dude once more. No wonder this place has perfect reviews. Drinks are exceptional, signature flavors, delicious and refreshing at the same time. We ordered the Golden Pineapple and it may have been one of the best drinks of my life. The manager was so nice and friendly too and let us taste the apple liqueur that goes into the Honeymoon, I’ve never had an apple spirit before from Normandy and what a treat.
