Disappointing and overhyped. I visited Folderol with 3 of my friends and we patiently waited in line for about 10 minutes before being allowed inside. Once seated, we ordered a bottle of wine and some ice cream. However, when two more friends decided to join us later, they were denied entry despite there being 2 empty stools next to us and them being the only 2 people outside. (There was no more queue at this point)
We tried to very politely reason with the bouncer (yes thereās a bouncer) and the manager, explaining that there was plenty of space for our friends to sit without causing any inconvenience. Unfortunately, the manager refused to listen and instead proceeded to give me a full lecture about honesty and accused me of being a dishonest person for not mentioning our party size from the beginning. To make matters even worse, his other male colleague steps in to patronize me some more by saying: āNO MEANS NOā.
I keep my cool, acknowledge that they must be under so much pressure cause they have to manage a big crowd and so the manager agrees to let them in, but only if other customers left the place. Fair enoughā¦. (Mind you, we have two empty stools right next to us)
We go back to our seats had a glass of wine as we watched as several people left, while our friends were still waiting outside still getting denied entry.
We approached the staff again and asked them to let our friends in. The āno means noā guy replied with another brilliant one liner: āthe more you ask, the more they will wait."
What ?!!!!!! what a repulsive answer. I had already paid for the whole bottle and ice cream and really did not want to ruin everyoneās night by causing a scene, so I just stood there in disbelief. This whole saga was not only humiliating, it was infuriating. Of all the natural wine bars in Paris, I surely donāt recommend this one. Ice cream is ok, vibe is just pure hype, as for the staff, I suggest a few months of training in hospitality management and human decency. They were absolutely off-putting and revolting. The only friendly staff member was (not surprisingly) a young lady who despite the chaos managed to recommend a good wine⦠Save yourself this experience and just go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBe aware! The quality of ice cream, is fantastic. The quality of service is disappointing. I and my travel company ordered the rhubarb sorbet, paired with a fruity white wine, and the sesame ice cream, paired with cotes du rhone. We arrived with a near-full bar and found space on the horseshoe shape bar counter and were greeted with a chalkboard menu of the ice cream flavors. It's worth noting that on the chalkboard it does mention, that if you dine in, you are charged an additional ā¬2(in French). There is no wine menu, nor pricing menu - but for context, my partner and I had one glass of wine each, and one scoop of ice cream each, and the total cost was ā¬29 ( dining in ). For the cost, this seemed excessive as there was no aspect of the dining experience setting it apart from say, going to literally any other restaurant nearby and ordering wine and dessert. The ambiance is cozy, but nothing outstanding - seating is bar stools as one would expect. The depth of flavor of both the sorbet and sesame were excellent, though. If anything, it is worth coming here for specifically the ice creams. The bar staff seemed dismissive today, as there was not any eagerness to offer guidance or a pairing for our chosen desserts, we were simply suggested to " do as we wish " (I might add that this was not at all an issue of language barrier). Additionally, wait staff bussed our empty ice cream dishes abruptly from behind us with not so much as a pardon. Overall, it could be worth ordering some ice cream to go, but you're better off finding your wine and dining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a terrible experience at this ice cream shop. Iāve waited in line for hours at pop-up restaurants and cafes, but waiting an hour for ice cream is ridiculous. I arrived at 16:24 and was only called in to place my order at 17:09. Then I had to continue waiting until 17:21 to finally get my ice cream. I understand that children are prioritized and can skip the queue, but many young families abuse this. They bring their tiny baby and immediately place an order while I had to wait 1 hour. Families with toddlers I can understand because the whole family eats ice cream, but families with a tiny baby? Big no.
I wouldnāt mind if the service was fast, but it was very slow, and a lot of people were waiting under 30-degree heat. I suggest they create a separate line for adults and families and balance between the two lines, because waiting 1 hour while two adults with a tiny baby immediately get their order is completely unfair.
The ice cream itself was mid. The olive oil flavor did not taste much like olive oil, and the fig leaf was okay but a little too sweet for my liking.
The price of the ice cream is similar to other shops in Paris, but they charge 1 euro extra for a cone and 2 euros just to eat on site. Big no. For the same price in other shops, I can get a cone and eat at the place with no extra charge.
I definitely...
