Horrible restaurant and experience. Extremely rude waiter, rude to me from the moment I walked in, I did nothing to deserve it. The atmosphere is very unappealing, tries hard to be trendy doing a “speakeasy” entrance inside a fake “storefront,” the lighting is very bad inside the actual restaurant and the decor feels clinical and unwelcoming, yet not spotless or pristine enough to make it stylish. The menu- limited, I spent 95 euros on their special basque style steak, ordered medium rare, and it was tough and fatty, and not medium rare. The fish with squid ink sauce potatoes was unbelievably, inedibly salty. The waiter came to ask about our dishes so I told him the squid ink was extremely salty. Then he took it back to the chef, after a few minutes he threw the plate back (literally, aggressively threw the dish down) onto the table and declared “the chef says not too salty” and walked off in a huff. I mean, why bother to even ask customers about their dishes if this is how you plan to treat them? I also have a medical condition where I need to be really careful not to have too salty things, but of course most people in Paris aren’t going to care about this (not just this waiter or chef, but still). Maybe the chef loves extremely salty food, which makes me wonder how jaded he has become after his many Michelin stars at previous projects. This restaurant has no personality (besides that of a jaded chef), the food is uninspired, I went there to celebrate the birthday of my father who passed away because I was in Paris instead of home with my family. It was the worst choice, I had such an unhappy night, felt like I was being treated like dirt at this restaurant, really didn’t need it. I even burst into tears unexpectedly because we were paying the bill early, I didn’t want to eat there anymore, didn’t even finish the food, it was so upsetting, and since they make you give your card in advance you can’t even leave when you don’t eat the food and they treat you badly because they will charge you anyways. NEVER EVER....
Read moreLocated in a former “maison close”, you are welcomed in a chic and cosy green carpeted entrance, leading to the restaurant hidden behind an imposing door. The wonderful friendly staff makes you feel at home under an impressive veranda opening the view on the historic surrounding architecture, immersing you in a sample of Paris. A great playlist creates a funky vibe at the perfect volume so you can hear each other whisper too. Perfect for romance or with friends! We started with a delicious mocktail, fragrant and refined. The food is exquisite, layered, and surprising. Pigeon, octopus, gambas, potatoes are served with unexpected spices and combined in a perfect balance of textures, fat and acidity. The generous proportions are rich in flavour and light on the stomach. The deserts are not to be missed, combining subtle flavours, crunch, mousse, warm and cold for an exciting sensory experience.
Don’t miss the hidden bar and small club in the basement, absolutely gorgeous!
Lots of love for this place and the people running it, it...
Read moreWe discovered Halo in a last-minute search for an interesting restaurant that was open at the end of August. Though only 10 minutes away from our apartment, this was the first time it came to our notice. It turned out to be fabulous! Our servers were very attentive and friendly. Not having a huge appetite, I had only their side salad as an entree and even that was among the best salads I've had in Paris. My veal was beautifully done with a delicious sauce. My husband had the ravioli as an entree, which he said was excellent; and the red mullet, which he thought was equally good. I had their cheeses, which were unusual selections and very well chosen. We had a red Savoie to accompany the meal, which I wasn't crazy about and would choose differently the next time. It is a great find and we will definitely go back next time...
