I've had their strudel as takeaway over the years but never sat in this place to eat lunch before, this afternoon we decided to. Friendliest service I've ever seen in Paris, I mean genuinely nice. Very patient with us and our 2 year old, every staff member would speak to her as they walked past and be so kind. The server was wonderful and everyone greeted us and had warm smiles. The food is simple (nothing "gastronomique") but is very fresh and tasty, sort of typical things likes pastas, sandwiches, salads. We had a couple club sandwiches, a pizza slice, and creamy pasta, all great! I think this place would be great for vegetarians and maybe vegans too, no meat as far as i could see! It made me think of a sort of an old family run canteen/cafe, the Israel-style decor is fun with lots of paintings/photos etc. Don't expect deluxe, it's old and in an old building. And from a previous comment about the toilet being filthy, no, it's just in a basement space of an old building , it was clean. And yes we had to "takeaway" some of their famous pastries: a strudel and a cheese cake. Come here for filling tasty food with a...
Read moreGo here!!! For one, the pastries are amazing. You'll see them in the windows and they taste as good as they look. Even better is the service. I stopped in at the end of the day on a Friday. I was chatting with the clerk and I ended up leaving my wallet on the counter. By the time I realized it they were already closed, didn't open until Sunday, and I was flying home on Saturday morning. I e-mailed them when I got back to my hotel and got a call an hour later (Friday night). They found my wallet when they re-opened and mailed it back to me. I asked them to charge the postage to one of my cards in my wallet but they paid for it themselves. So as a favor for the outstanding service I got, please stop by here if you are in the neighborhood. Fantastic family bakery! I will...
Read moreWonderful pastries and coffee in the narrow streets of Le Marais. Great place to enjoy a delicious treat and watch life go by on the winding streets in front of you. The coffee is very good and the service is fast once you have ordered, but you’ll want to go to the counter to pick out your pastries.
I believe that the grounds are kept kosher - we watched while a lady with a meat pie from another establishment was shooed off the grounds to finish her meal when she tried to bring it into the cafe. Keep that in mind if you are bringing in food from elsewhere to have with your coffee. Also, note that cars will totally try to drive down the tiny side street - this can be a little intimidating if you’re...
