My partner and I booked to make two 50mL perfumes. Overall satisfied with the perfume making experience (5 stars) but we had issues with the administrative side (2 stars).
We had a scheduled class for 11am. There were three different addresses given to us across the website an confirmation emails. We arrived to a closed gate and called the studio, no answer. There’s no signage or anything at their studio, and it’s behind a closed gate. We ended up running around the surrounding neighborhood, going to all of the addresses, calling the studio to ask for help, for 45 mins. We were also frustrated that we didn’t receive a phone call checking on where we were.
Finally we found the studio, and since we were late, they tried to turn us away with no solution. We explained that we called 10 times, Instagram direct messaged them, etc trying to get help, so we will be making perfumes today. They offered us to come back at the later slot at 2pm.
The actual perfume class was great, we learned a lot and it was very fun to see her review our list of scents we liked and create a formula. She provided explanations in both English and French (half the group only spoke either language). We were treated well and really enjoyed the class, once we finally made it. We felt the experience was worth the price.
For the studio - there are clear improvements needed on the administrative side. We recommend opening the gates, providing signage, providing info on the website and via confirmation email for the location and access information. This is not clear anywhere. We also recommend updating the phone number, as we called several times with no answer. Read moreSadly, I had an unpleasant experience yesterday and I wouldn't recommend it to one who is truly passionate about perfumes. Three of five of my choices for base notes were completely erased (my beloved vanilla!) and altered with scents I didn't list at all. When I asked why, the lady stated she was an expert which I didn't appreciate, but held on my judgement to re-assess the suggestions. They didn't match my taste. I grew impatient and raised my concerns again, which visibly irritated the lady and she scoldingly told me to use almond if I have to. Awkward vibe bled onto the table and spilled over everyone involved, I felt like an intruder as opposed to customer. When I looked back at the lady, she pulled a very unpleasant facial expression as if to communicate to my fellow customers her disapproval of me (ouch!). We continued to make the perfume in civilized manner but the final result was just completely not me, nothing I like, and will never use it. It's sad, as it was my boyfriend's idea for my birthday present and I guess that's why it's important to me to write this review. My intention is, dear madam, that you understand you have the power to create great memories for people and it matters every time. Guess it could have been a bad day or simply a personality clash (it happens) so it's fine. Love the idea of creating a personalized scent, but will try again it elsewhere. Read moreWhat a joke!!! After booking this experience through TripAdvisor experiences, we arrived only to be told that they did not have our booking. After many phone calls, having provided our reservation number which guarantees their payment and being totally ignored by the desk clerk, she miraculously found our booking but insisted we change to a more expensive experience (50 euro) that also takes an additional hour. Her reasoning was that there was another group who would have the majority of the fragrances but we could have a small sampling and keep our time. She then led us into a closet with a table and chairs, moved all of the testing fragrances out of the way and brought in a very small box. Put it on the table and walked out. We also had to ask for programs in English after she provided one in English and one in French. After several minutes we walked back to the front and requested a refund which she said was impossible. She never smiled. She never apologized for the mixup and when we asked to speak to the owner, she barked that he was too busy. She finally got him on the phone and he refused to refund our money and hung up on us. She then called a manager after our insistence who was equally unhelpful. We left with no promise of a refund and filed a complaint with TripAdvisor. After traveling the globe and booking TripAdvisor experiences and having truly wonderful experiences we would rate this a zero if it were possible....
