I would actually give this place 2 stars but husband got the kaarage don which saved it somewhat.
As there are only 8 or 9 items on the menu with an emphasis on curry, you would think that their katsu curry would be unbelievably good (though I had my doubts looking at the katsu breading in photos). The meat was dry chicken breast, small in portion size and the curry tasted like the S&B Golden Curry cubes I buy in stores. The 3 pieces of garnish also looked very sad...I would just omit it all together if just 3 pieces 😆. Took an extra egg for 2€ and it was good but very cold.
Husband's kaarage don chicken was waaaay more moist and had a nice taste and a more generous portion size.
We actually didn't have to wait too long (20 ish minutes ) to get into their 8 seater restaurant but despite the waiter taking our order before we even stepped into, we ended up waiting another 25 minutes sitting at the table waiting for our food, which is enormous considering they only have a few select things on the menu and 8 people eating at once! It seems like they had huge Deliveroo orders as I saw them packing up...
Read moreThis place perfectly captures the essence of a hidden gem, with seating for just 8 people. Be prepared for long waits, but I assure you it's worth it. The menu is small, so you can't go wrong with any choice! We wanted to sample as many dishes as possible, so we ordered a katsu curry, which features breaded chicken on rice with curry sauce on the side. You can add an egg to it, which I did. We also tried the karaage don and a curry veggie. All three dishes were incredibly tasty and well-prepared. The curry here is milder than the typical Asian variety and has a unique Creole twist. My favorite was the karaage don, thanks to the perfectly cooked caramelized grilled chicken that added immense flavor to the dish. Overall, this place is highly recommended for a unique dining experience, making you feel as if you've...
Read moreKuma is a must visit, whether you’re a tourist or a true Parisian! We missed the grand opening of this little Japanese Street Food inspired restaurant by two days, so we made sure it was one of the first stops on my next visit to Paris. Kuma did not disappoint! So much so that we ate there three more times during my short stay. The Karaage Don was by far my favorite dish! The chicken is perfectly marinated and is always moist. The Salmon Don is also delicious and fresh with a yummy glaze. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big. I kept wanting to order both dishes but was always full after one! Their pickled egg adds some really authentic flavor to the dishes and makes a great add on. Everything is made fresh and on the spot. We can’t wait to go back during our next...
