Rave reviews for L'Escarmouche in Paris!! I enjoyed the most delightful dinner at this restaurant. Everything was fabulous from the entertainment to the food!! The musicians were joyful and jolly. They made a great effort to serenade every table. I was joined by a very large group of nearly 40 people. The service was top-notch! The food was high quality, especially considering the number of people they were serving simultaneously. The French onion soup was flavorful and comforting. The prawns were of substantial size and made for a great entree selection. Lastly, the floating island for dessert, yum! I will remember this evening for a long time to come. I dined here with two tour groups. Overall I liked the ambience but the food was very salty( fish and rice) and escargot. The desert apple crumble with vanilla ice cream( I don't like vanilla ice cream didn't eat it) it was ok. I didn't like that my only options for a drink was water and warm soda and I don't drink alcohol nor soda . But needed something to drink so I asked for ice and a received a strange look. Be careful- TOURIST SCAM here! I came here as a part of a group and many items on the menu were fake substitutes. The veal I ordered was actually pork, and the table wine they served was diluted by at least 1/2 part water. When I tried ordering a bottle of wine off their wine list, they did not have ANY wine listed on their menu and their manager insisted on substituting other wines of a fraction of the value at the same price and did not open the bottle at the table, instead opening in the back.
