Hotel Oratio was excellent for the price compared to many other hotels of the same tier across Paris.
Hotel Oratio is clean and comfortable, perfect for my basic needs as I was taking a class at the Sorbonne, a mere ten-minute walk around the corner. The bed was comfortable, not saggy, and the linen was crisp like new. The towels were soft, the AC and TV were of modern technology, and the room itself had a pleasant, quaint, almost retouched "Belle Epoque" aesthetic while thoughtfully maximising its limited space in a big city.
It was also very charming to hear church bells chiming from the small cathedral right across the way! The Notre-Dame Cathedral is within walking distance, as is the famous Cluny Museum that is perfect to visit in the morning when crowds are small.
The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, whether custodial or front desk. For non-Europeans, it may seem odd or annoying to constantly retrieve your room key at the front desk each time you leave and enter the building, but it is reassuring and becomes convenient as one less thing to worry about.
My room was a single bed that faced the inner courtyard. It did feel cramped, but again, that was not an issue as I only desired a safe, clean, and comfortable place to sleep while doing studies and personal exploration during my day.
I did not try their breakfast option as I preferred to buy my own from the local grocery stores close by. There are a couple of small but amply stocked bakeries right outside the hotel as you continue walking, as well as healthier options all within a few blocks (a Greek restaurant, a Monoprix with takeaway salads and fruit, a raw fruit stand, etc.). A gym and at least three laundromats are also very close by.
Highly recommend Hotel Oratio for a short stay in Paris when you need is the assurance of a pleasant room in a quiet and...

The location is great, with many delicious bakeries around the corner and Norte Dame a short stroll away. It is close to the metro and bus stops.
The staff are very friendly and speak good English, they are happy to help with anything you may need. Our room was cleaned a couple of times whilst we were out, we just left the sign on the door and when we came back the room smelt lovely and the bed was made with fresh towels.
The rooms are small, however we stayed in the comfort room and it was perfect for a couple. Plenty of space. The showers work well and there is a hairdryer in there ready for you too. I requested the pink room upon booking and when I arrived it was available for us. We were also able to check in an hour early as our room was ready which was great. The heating/aircon in the rooms works well it’s just a little tricky to work out.
The hotel has a free coffee machine and cold water machine, with a refill bottle in your room. This was brilliant during our stay. Clean glasses were also placed in our room during cleaning.
We didn’t have breakfast here but the breakfast area is beautiful.
You do have to leave your key with reception when going out, but this is for security (likely due to pickpockets) and we found it very easy and it meant we didn’t have to worry where it was all day.
I don’t have anything bad to say about this hotel, the plug in the bathroom didn’t work and the USB on one side of the bed didn’t either but apart from that everything was excellent.
Book this hotel for your stay and you won’t regret...
Read moreThis is a well kept hotel. The staff are kind and helpful. They decorated the room with a few balloons for my birthday and left a lovely note and chocolate covered almonds on the bed. However, the rooms are extremely small. I only stayed for one night, so it was fine for my sister and I. We had a cute balcony but weren’t able to use it due to rain. It’s close to a cafe, bakeries and transportation, which made it very convenient to explore the sights in Paris. They also held our bags for us since check-in wasn’t until 3PM.
One issue we had is that there isn’t any heat in the rooms. I was informed they only have AC, and when I asked for an extra blanket, they didn’t have any but did give me an extra sheet. It’s also located across the street from a church with a very loud bell that goes off on the hour. There is no coffee machine in the room, you have to go down to the lobby for that.
It really is a lovely hotel, I just wish certain aspects were more positive. There is also super cute, pink cafe downstairs that serves breakfast. I will say that the staff tried their best to make us feel welcome and...
