The cheese platter was incredibly underwhelming — a sparse selection of dry, characterless cheeses that felt more like an afterthought than a showcase. In a city where the bar for cheese is set so high, this dish was a letdown. The wine, admittedly the house’s cheapest option, was nothing to write home about, but at least we expected that. But the real nadir was the onion soup: a sloppy, flavorless mess that was neither enjoyable to eat nor pleasant to smell. It was so poorly executed that it ruined any hope of salvaging the meal. Overall, a huge disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to tourists seeking classic French fare — they deserve better than this, and Parisians certainly do.

It’s important to note, after reading quite a few reviews, that while the low reviews are valid, so are the high ones. The food here is truly delicious and especially the apple cake with cream. The coffee is good too though not out of this world. The problem here is the service. We arrived and were not greeted too friendly but the cold shoulder treatment begun when only ordering coffee. Once we ordered food and the cake, we were suddenly smiled at and welcomed. It was a little strange but now that I read the reviews, I understand, it’s just the game the servers play, drinks only don’t bring enough return. It’s unfortunate since location is amazing and food good.

If you like to people watch, do not miss L’Horizon (or another nearby bar). Situated at the intersection of the Saint Placid Metro entrance and no less than SIX streets, this place is a people watcher’s dream, especially at rush hour. The service at L’Horizon was excellent, and like most bars in Paris, no French speaking skills is no problem. The food was ok, but the drinks were good and reasonably priced. I’m giving five stars however because there is no other place I’ve seen in the city better situated to see the people of Paris going about their day!

I came to Paris for my first solo international trip back in November and I am just now getting to write a review cause I have been so busy. I LOVED this place. I had just had a terrible experience at a different place before I came to this one. My phone was about to die and I needed to get a charger and they had these really cool menus with build in chargers for all kinds of different types of phones. The server I had could tell I had a terrible day and was exhausted. And he was like "I will take care of you." He even watched my bag while I went to the restroom. He was more than kind!! And I wish I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars!! He asked me where I was from and I told him Southern Missouri and he started to sing Johnny Cash! it was so fun! I had such a great experience here! The best I had on my trip to Paris! I loved telling my family about this experience! they thought it was very cool how someone from France knew about old country singers in the United States! I did not try any of the food but I am sure it is really good! I only had coffee while I was there. I will for sure be coming back here when I go back to Paris! Each staff member was so respectful to me and one even told me he liked my water bottle and it had a bunch of Jesus stickers and bible verse stickers on it. Very kind staff. Can't wait to come back here...

We live down the street. We go here because it’s convenient but otherwise the service is deplorable. The staff has never been welcoming, very rude off the bat, demanding money as you order, trying to rush you out the door even though it’s empty and open late. Can’t speak to the food- we only order beer or coffee here with friends in exceptional cases. Maybe they discriminate against people who just come for drinks, so this is why there is such incongruity between reviewers who order a meal vs those who only take drinks. I wouldn’t go there alone because the staff is so unwelcoming, and the prices are the same as if you go to a well known bar like Le Select with a...
