Worst hotel experience ever.
I had a reservation made at this hotel, but upon arrival they claimed they have some problems and moved me to the hotel down the street which they kept saying "is the same, same company, no difference". The hotels are very different.
Overall, I lost an entire hour at the reception and walking between the two locations. I knew beforehand that the other hotel (Hotel Renoir Montparnasse) is a lot worse than the one where I had the reservation at - the booking was made through a travel agency which specifically put me at the Unic Renoir, not the other one.
The welcoming in the hotel was not warm at all, and immediately after I gave my name and ID the guy dissapeared and just told me to wait. Then came the other guy, who had the speech, posture and look as a very drunk person, who did the same.
Then followed an hour of arguing with the drunk guy mostly, where they tell me nothing specifically, just "problem, problem" - also, English very bad with all hotel staff as they had no idea what I was saying during this argument. I repeteadly insisted to have my room at the Unic Renoir and that I don't care about the other hotel. The drunk guy at one point was telling me to "be quiet", grabbed my bag and kind of pushed me without any sort of explanation when they moved me to the other hotel and was getting inconfortably close to my face whilst talking. Also, after forcing me to the other hotel, at one point, he just left me talking and walked out the door and did not come back. Again, I had to go over the first hotel only to find them seated and talking with the other staff - no explanation for me, nothing.
At no point did anyone offer any complete explanation for what had happened to my room or - God forbid - an apology for the mix up with the rooms. Obviously, no manager present to talk to - hoping to meet anyone with a decent English understanding and competence in the morning.
Will never come again and I advise anyone else to avoid this hotel, despite the decent location in the city - there are plenty others. Also, the price of the room is way too high for what it offers.
Update: I decided to spend both nights in the Renoir hotel, and not accept to move after the first night as I was on a business trip and had no time for this.
The problems continued until the end of the stay at Renoir: very bad breakfast in a small room with almost no options. Rooms smell very bad, bed is not comfy and there NOTHING in the minibar. Bathrooms are quite gross and overall very outdated decor. Very noisy area even if the room was oriented towards the backyard, also very unclean and overall terrible. Also magnetic card will not work all the time.
When I asked the reception person (5 different people over the course of two days) to call me a taxi I was refused and told that he needs to make an important call first and does not have the time for this. Told me to get myseld an uber which I ended up doing. While waiting for my car the reception guy did absolutely nothing and made no phone calls.
I have never had such a bad experience ever, anywhere. AVOID THIS PLACE...
Read moreWe booked here as a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) so that we could visit Paris (especially the Eiffel Tower) after a few days in Disneyland.||The photos on booking.com looked great and the facilities listed matched just what we wanted. However, I’m not sure what hotel most of the photos were taken from!? We were in room 18, “the suite” where the door in bashed into the first bed, then there was a single bed through an archway and finally a double bed with en suite across a small courtyard accessed only from this room.||The good:|Air con worked|Shower was strong|Hotel near underground stations||The bad:|Breakfast was hard boiled eggs, meats, coco pops and a selection of breads, served from 7.30-10.30 (advertised) but we were told at 10am on day one that it was finished and if we were lucky enough to make it to it, they didn’t restock the breakfast ‘selection’ and there were only a handful of bowls so when we asked for a bowl to have cereal in, the lady checked to see if there was one finished on another table and washed it up!||Facilities say you can get hot or cold drinks from reception included in your stay - partner asked them and receptionist walked her to the nearest corner shop so she could buy some!||Asked for an iron and it was provided. Asked for a bath plug so we could actually use the bath and was questioned why we needed it (can’t you just shower instead receptionist said) then eventually they said they’d bring one up in 15 minutes….we’re still waiting for this….! ||A lot of the lights in the room didn’t work, the fridge was hot and dirty and parts of the wall had been touched in with white paint when the rest of the room was painted in cream. Also a grotty magazine that was covered in god knows what and a bottle of apple juice (we hoped) was still in the room which we disposed of.||Loud neighbours in adjacent rooms who were inconsiderate all night ||Asked to leave the keycard every time we left the hotel as they only had one. I didn’t do this once as I didn’t agree with it. They had at least a second keycard as housekeeping came in and put new toilet rolls in and made beds when we were out.||Overall:|Ok if using it as a base to sleep and get changed in, don’t expect too much from the staff who make you feel like you’re an inconvenience to them.||Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby and an old school shopping mall which still had an open C&A and Burtons in it.||We paid £694.60 for...
Read moreI stayed at the hotel for four nights with 3 people (including myself). The employees were very kind especially Ruby. Ruby was very positive and cheerful every time he saw my friends and I return to the hotel. The rooms are located past the lobby and are accessible through a courtyard. There are no stairs to get to the rooms which is nice if you have large/heavy luggage. The courtyard has chairs and tables so guests can enjoy the outdoor space. The room was clean and smelled smoke-free. The room had a great layout. It was a two story room. The bottom floor included a pull out couch, side table, closet (with 5 hangers and extra pillows), desk, full length mirror, and a toilet (no sink or shower). The top floor included a queen bed, a pull-out/roll-a-way bed, desk, chair, television, and a bath/shower/1 sink. The top floor bathroom was a great size, two people could be getting ready at the same time. The hotel provided soap bars, shampoo, tissue paper, a blow dryer (seemed very old), and towels. The cleaning ladies would make the bed daily (without changing the sheets), exchange old towels with new towels, and remove the room trash. The room included two moveable AC units, one on the top floor and the other on the bottom floor. The AC had a tube coming out of the back end of the AC. At times, the tube would blow hot air that would warm up the room therefore, my friends and I stuck the tube out the window so it wouldn’t warm the room. We told Ruby (concierge) that the AC was blowing hot air and he tried to fix it (but didn’t). The hotel provided WiFi however, it didn’t work great in the room. The WiFi worked better in the lobby. The hotel provides a key card that you tap to open your room and then insert to turn on the lights/electricity. They gave us one key card for three people. I prefer when they provide each guest with a key card. The hotel is situated in a nice location. There are several cafes and creperies on the hotel street. There are several metro stations nearby.||||Overall: I would stay here again.||||Side Note: the hotel offers breakfast however, I did not try it. Ruby offered my friends and I a complementary breakfast on our...
