I have lived in rue des Pyrénées for over 30 years, and the legendary Flûte Gana was the first place I recommended to visitors and friends. However, while their selection of cakes has greatly expanded and is generally of good quality, although overpriced, the flûte Gana (their once-iconic version of the French baguette) itself is now as dry and tasteless as cardboard. I didn’t want to believe it, so I kept coming back regularly to see if some odd talentless baker had finally been sent walking, but no, this doesn’t seem to be the case. Read moreThey ripped us off! We had just arrived in Paris and La Flute Gana happened to be one of the first places we went to. We bought two croissant which were a total of just under three euros. I gave the woman 20 euros cash. She only gave me back 5.70 euros. At the moment I was confused but she rushed me away and only later did I realize what had happened. She realized we were foreign (we’re Canadian; we still used French but a different French) and she was obviously taking advantage of us. Do not go here! One of the ladies who was at the register mimicked me while I was looking for some coins. Then she said in English, "ok, i am waiting." She was looking at me as i was wasting her time.
