La Perle — Restaurant in Paris

La Perle, watch out there are a lot of one star reviews showing a similar negative customer service experience as described below! Train your staff in customer service, or perhaps I should say more simply, to simply serve customers.

This bar ranks highly as an establishment expertly versed in the art of poor customer service. We sat down within the bar area for a good ten minutes waiting to be served - as it’s table service - and noting that others were being given table service attention while having come in after us. The bar was not overly busy to justify such poor order of service attention.

I eventually went to the bar to get the drinks list that were placed on the bar, having had time to notice that other patrons were being served at the table and were being given the drinks list by the serving staff.

Subsequent efforts to attract the attention of staff (gesticulating and verbal efforts) from our table were unsuccessful as the staff nonchalantly walked by - like we were invisible.

We gave up waiting after fifteen minutes and walked out.

Absolutely love this place and come here whenever I’m in Paris. SUCH a vibe! Also great for people watching if you manage to get a table outside or at the window counter. They do great cocktails (super strong but I’m from London & that’s how we like them) and great pizza. It gets busy in the evening (as you’d expect). Sometimes it’s table service and sometimes you have to order inside, I couldn’t really work out the rules but think it’s to do with time of day / busyness. Staff are super friendly as well as speaking really good English (although they were very patient with my broken but determined French 🙃). One thing to bear in mind is that it’s a minimum of €16 for card payments, although the couple of times when I haven’t had enough cash they’ve let me come back later in the day / next day to sort it and were super chill. Cons: 1. Waiter clearly forgets the food part of our order: literally just a basket of fries. We wait forever, no one checks in. Everyone is served around us. My partner has to walk up to the waiter and ask what's up: he is beyond rude and snippy to her for asking. Completely blows her off. We are informed while paying for our drinks there is a 16 euro minimum to pay with credit, which we would have exceeded, if they hadn't fudged our order (I am out of cash, so to add insult to injury we have to get a drink to go to get the 16). No apology; no sense of remorse. "Its just busy" Here's an idea, maybe it would be less busy if you hired more than 1 semi-competent staff member for all 15/20 tables outside.
